Angry John Edwards Plan for America

Here is a link to the article.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070511/ap_on_el_pr/edwards_spending;_ylt=AtTWxaeXmE5TiQ0EsszrMFrMWM0F

Just a few excerpts:

To pay for some of his priorities, Edwards would roll back Bush's tax cuts on Americans making more than $200,000 a year. He also said he would consider raising capital gains taxes to help fund his plans and raise or eliminate the $90,000 cap on individual earnings subject to Social Security taxes to help cover the projected shortfall in the system.

Social Security is a Fraud. I have not figured SS into my retirement plans. I am not expecting it to and in all likelihood will not be there. Most years I max out the 90K cap on SS individual earnings (depending on how much travel I do), but hey according to Edwards I make to much money and more needs to be given to individual who do not properly plan for retirement.

His plan would require employers to provide insurance or contribute to the coverage of every worker — and it would require every citizen to get coverage. The government would pay for insurance for lower income Americans and tax credits to help subsidize what other families would have to pay for coverage, funded by abolishing Bush's tax cuts for people who make more than $200,000 a year and by having the government collect more back taxes.

The government would not pay for insurance for lower income Americans, you and I will.

$5 billion in foreign aid to combat international poverty, including $3 billion to help pay for primary education for every child in the world.

Poverty sucks, but how much foreign aid has the US already provided and what good has it done? Why would Edwards think the U.S is responsible for helping with the primary education for every child in the world when we can not even properly educate our citizens.

Just my rant for the day.

So what's the problem? John Edwards is who he is--an old school, semi-socialist Democrat. Wears it on his sleeve, no deception, no code words, he's gonna take rich fo'ks money and give it to the po' fo'ks.

I wish the other sleazebags were as honest about their plans as he is. Sure makes choosing easier.

Jon: Very good point. He is at least honest on what he will do and he has a plan. I don't like it, but at least he has a plan.

He's not just a personal injury trial lawyer. Edwards could channel the dead babies during his closing arguments and allow the babies to speak to the jury. That takes skillz.

Your basic socialist plan.

It's amazing that you can look around the world and see where the fall of socialism has allowed countries to prosper and compete at a global level (India).

Meanwhile many in our country want to take us down a road with an obvious dead-end.

Seriously- when this country is "done"- where is another good place to go? Where is there a 100 year old democracy with nice beaches?

URUGUAY, just a flop of Southern California, 33 degrees south on the Atlantic and SoCal is 33 degrees north on the Pacific.
I lived in Costa Rica for a few years and I think some people are now moving farther south. It looks pretty good to me. I guess they have Porsche dealers there. Lots of Euros.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but we need to realize that we are paying for the health costs for the uninsured already.

Part of the reason health costs are so high is because the insured people pay for those who aren't insured. At least one part of the solution would be to make everyone who could, pay for their insurance. Currently the system is a little like a grocery store that (by law) can't turn away starving people. What do you think their prices are going to be like?

Example: 19 yr old male, spends his money on a new motorcycle not health insurance - 'cause he's young and he's never gonna get sick or hurt (he thinks). When he gets hurt the hospital treats him and passes the cost on to you (via your insurance rates).

Isn't it amazing that we still have politicians who believe we can tax and spend ourselves into prosperity?

WTH is that bull**** about educating every child in the world? How the hell is that our responsibility?

Invest that money into OUR education system. Quit making our kids into dumbasses that are only fit to flip burgers after they graduate.

The fact that John Edwards is a socialist who wants to run the government makes him the "Hitler in training".
