Vacations? I get 20 days/years, plus 9 paid holidays. No bonuses in a non-for-profit university. Now, I sometimes work at home too, writing papers doing bibliographic research. Plus, I never really stop thinking about my projects. Does it count as work?

Hmmm. Seems to me that if you find time to post here while you are "working"? You're not working...just playing on the dime of your employer. Man, am I ever glad that my business didn't involve workers who used computers...I contracted out computer "work"...thus, somebody else's problem whether those on 'puters were "working" or not...

Didja ever hear about time difference? Here on the east coast, It is 9:50 pm and thanks god I have been back from work for a while now. Secondly, even if I was posting from work, I would be doing it on my own dime, since I am responsible for the contracts that pay for my salary. See, you got it all wrong once again

I find it interesting how everyone gets on the global warming bandwagon and gets all hot and bothered about a sustainable climate, but can't seem to see the failure to provide a sustainable work environment. I am with Stijn, I think North American's are nuts, but I suspect we can include the Chinese and the Indian's in the nutbar, but at least they have an excuse, coming from a pretty low economic level and aspiring to better lives...

I'll never blame anyone for wanting to improve their lot in life...but unidimensionally focusing on material wealth is the problem....
