OMG that's right. They put Keyes in his place. BWWWWAAAAA. The most staunch Republicans I know here were furious about Keyes.

And to me, I see nothing shameful there. He has nothing to be "shameful" for. It's his business whatever he wants to do after hours, with whomever. That's the thing. Since when did someone's private sex life become the subject of "shame" to complete strangers?

It's a matter of opinion whether someone's a swinger or sleeps with another besides his wife is of low "personal character." It's wayyyy too subjective of criteria. Someone's personal sex life is private, and has nothing to do with the positoin. One says it's low character, another says it's average character, 75% of people in this country seem to have the same "personal character" as that's the estimated percentage of people who cheat in this country.

I do not advocate censorship whatsoever, and do not want to see restrictions. I just wish America as a whole would just get their priorities straight and get their nose out of other people's crotches, then the media would no longer care, as this is how a free market works. It's more of a matter of disgust to me than anything else.

You know, I blame "us" as much as I do the media. Now don't get me wrong, I truly dislike the media these days, particular their rapacious pursuit of the sensational and salacious, but "we" are no better by watching it and paying for it.

If I hear some guy is a "swinger" and his wife is OK with it (or husband)....so what? Now if I heard he was indicted for tax evasion, had beaten his kids and defrauded his church all the while professing innocence and purity...that would be enough to make me not want the guy as my leader....give any of it was true of course.

It is amazing how many people get all hot and bothered these days about sexual "irregularities" while ignoring other questionable behaviour.

It has also changed over time....I mean, how many people really felt what Marilyn Monroe taught JFK about back massage was anyone's business? Did the press censor itself..probably...but I certainly don't hold JFK in any less esteem for enjoying the experience and I have nothing but admiration for Marilyn being willing and able to perform it.

I don't know where you are getting your 75% from. It sounds like your wrong on this. If in fact 75% of Americans cheated in this country wouldn't that indicate a majority? If the majority of people participate in an activity, doesn't that activity become the norm? If it is the norm, then why is it still news worthy? Why is it scandalous?

The reason it is news worthy is because it is still not the norm. And it is news worthy because privacy is no longer a word respected in the media. But, when you lie to your spouse, hurt your family, and become a failure at marriage, most people find that abhorrent behavior. It may be that people think that kind of dishonesty will spill over into their professional careers.

I hope your right, that it won't effect one's public life. But what are you really saying? Your job you'll take seriously because complete strangers depend on you, but your marriage you'll abandon vows right and left, because, "Hey, it's just my wife/husband-kids," -only the most important people in your life. The ones that really matter don't matter at all. Therefore, it makes no difference if I lie to those I love and who love me, but now, listen to this, I won't lie to complete strangers, honest.
I don't buy that argument.

I have never seen that as cheating anyone out of any real thing
sex drives vairy and change over time esp in long unions

I am far more concerned about lies that kill and start wars we cannot win, then a BJ, so what is important moral code
