30 hours of fun

Spent much of the weekend putting a up a 14'x24' garage with one of my best friends down in NY. His original email was about a cabana, he figured a day with BBQ and beer. I should have gotten suspicious when the list of tools came a week later...compressor, various saws, drills, etc.

53' semi down from Canada showed up at 1PM on Thursday. Had the roof papered at 9PM on Saturday night, 90% of it with hammers, did the roof with a nail gun.

One thing is certain, on a hot day with serious labor involved, nothing beats a Budweiser at 46F.

Mostly unloaded

Backhoe was priceless in unloading, moving lumber around

Build pics along the way. Note, the guy who laid the foundation should be shot. What a load of chalky crap for $7500.

roof work at night is not advised!

Chuck, are still thinking of doing the Bat Cave style sunken garage? I could easily be convinced to come out, will bring my own shovel, to help with that project, wtih only a slightly heavier suitcase on my return.

EDIT: BTW, how's new little Moreland doing?

They can stop by Phoenix on the way to SoCal and help me with mine. Not going to build a small one, if its going up, its going to be at least twice that size!

Joe

PS my beer is at 36 degrees so should taste that much better after 60 hours of work!

I'll be in Tempe last few days of August or first few days of Sept.

Keep a few cool ones in the fridge for me Joe.

Was there something special about that slab and footings? Around So Cal that would have cost way less.

I don't think so David, and again, it was a very poor job.

That's too bad - wish I could have helped you out - I'm in the concrete biz, albeit on the other side of the continent from you!
