They May Have Found Kelsey Smith
What a tragedy. If it turns out the body they found is that of Kelsey Smith, I cannot imagine the grief of the family.
Yes, unfortunately lots of other people go missing and are never the subject of the kind of coverage her case is receiving. Someone has even coined a name for it as a result of the case in Aruba two years ago, "Missing White Woman Syndrome." It is difficult to understand and so, so sad. Maybe its because I have a 24 year old daughter but I can't feel rage (yet) I feel an overwhelming sense of sadness and waste. I just can't stop repeating, "what a tragedy". I pray for her family that the grief does not derail their lives. Just so sad.

My only child is a 20 year old female. I cant imagine what parents go through losing a child.

I was outraged as hell by this. You just know that some piece of scum raped here, and then killed her to cover up his crime. F*cking pieces of filth should be feed to lions.

Stupid question and no insensitivity meant, but who is Kelsey Smith? I'm guessing a missing persons case/presumed murder victim? Not familiar with the case.

18 year old from Kansas I think. Disappeared Saturday night leaving a Target store. Surveillance video shows her being forced into her car. Lots more details including vague video of her likely abductor - a young guy maybe 25 or so. VIdeo of the black pickup he probably drove and him driving her car away with her probably inside. FOund her body across the state line in a wooded area based on a cell phone signal. It is the leading story on MSNBC as of an hour ago. They showed video of her walking with her high school graduating class only 12 days ago. A pretty young girl with her whole future ahead of her. Dad is a 16 year cop too. Incredibly sad.

I have an 18 y/o daughter who really is the apple of my eye. I could lose everything as long as I had her and still be fine. but if anything would ever happen to her... they say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned? they haven't met me in that instance
I know it sounds trite, but I hope the family finds peace and the perp gets everything he has coming

There is no justice anymore in this country. The perp will never ever get what he really deserves and just getting him through a trial will cost us millions. Just look at the Jessica Lunsford murderer whose confession was tossed out on a technicality and he buried her alive.

I was just going to say that they will have someone soon, and I don't even know much about the case. It's a mega-tragedy, but it's also a miracle when someone gets away with a crime that stupid and senseless.

My guess is that they do not feel any remorse or sympathy for their victims. The victims are merely commodities for them. It also makes you wonder how many of these perps are at large in society, either acting on their impulses or not. I had a good friend, very good friend from age 8 through high school who hung out in our group every day. I knew the guy was somewhat unbalanced, but not to the point of where he ended up going. We all lost touch a few years after high school, and a few years ago, this guy raped and murdered a 4 year old boy. This shocked us all, but looking back at his personality it makes sense. He continues to deny it, and his case has been up for appeal. my personal hope is that they just castrate him and leave him in a stone cellar forever. |
