Update #3 on wife

If you folks get tired of the updates, please let me know.

She is off the meds for regulating her blood pressure. The numbers are well within acceptable range. They are a tad concerned about her kidney and liver output, both a bit off so they are going in with a needle to take "sludge" out of the gall bladder. Kidney concern: Creatinine level at 1.8. (normal is 0.5 to 1.5) Liver, something about enzymes. The breathing has remained somewhat stable; O2 set at 65, and the other number is 95 to 97 (saturation?). According to Nurse Donna, she has over 20 liters of fluid that they have to get rid of. I would assume that this much fluid would have a negative effect on kidney/liver function. I think I can remain somewhat pessimistically optomistic.

Thanks to the nurses, I have learned not to concentrate on the numbers as much. It makes the time I spend with her much less stressful.

No such thing as too many updates Bob! I find myself thinking about you and your wife often throughout the day. I'll keep thinking the good thoughts.

Looks good. The ability to autoregulate BP is evidence of the bloodstream infection becoming under control. Excellent. The persistant 65% oxygen requirement is likely secondary to the fluid overload. When the kidneys wake up and she begins to dump the excess water her lung functions should improve.

It's good news. Keep us posted.

Moses....Thank you.

TO everyone else: Thanks as well for the encouraging words. When I am there, I sing (softly) to her and "Never is heard a discouraging word". The nurses talk to her as well, and all of them have excellent "bedside manners!!".

LIke I said in the previous update....It is human nature to be impatient. The resident MD is non committal and I have not heard from her surgeon in three days although she has been in to see her every morning (sometimes we cross paths and I get an update).

Good to hear the updates. My thoughts are with you and her in this difficult time. All I can say is be strong for her and be an example for her in your strength. Give her a reason to fight.

Glad to hear it's going in the right direction. Keep positive. It's going to be a battle won by inches, not leaps and bounds.

It's surprising how issues like these posted on forums by people you haven't met have a habit of getting under your skin.

My thoughts are with you and your wife (puts my own trivial personal issues sharply into perspective). Good luck to both of you, seems things are looking a fair bit more positive.

I've been reading this all along and hoping she does well. You'll have to tell her about her new Pelican fan club. She has a lot of people praying for a full recovery.

+1.

Bob, we've never met, but you're one of the regulars here. I look at many of you as my extended family and would do pretty much anything to help a fellow Pelican. Your updates are not only welcome, they're a requirement!

Glad to hear your wife's condition is improving. All the positive Pelican energy flowing in from around the world has to be helping.

Stay strong, and definitely keep us posted.

Randy
