The angle on TV just didn't show the initial impact very well. That does! One nasty a$$ crash. When he wasn't moving, I didn't think that was going to come out to well

I still cannot believe he did not even get more than a sprain from that.

I imagine he will be VERY sore coming the next few days. A true testimony of how far the safety has come in F1, or was it pure luck?

What is up with F1 getting all the videos removed from You Tube, are they going to remove all the F1 content? At least this one will stay.

The stands on the left side where the car came to rest was where we were seated. 10 feet from the track and right where the debris settled.

The video is very powerful but the noise, parts and car flying by just sucked the air out of everyone's lungs. Several of us started to go over the fence to help but by then the rescue guys were there. He was not moving at first then started moving his head.

Cannot believe that he is now released from the hospital after a crash like that one...

Jim,

Videos that are not paying frigging Ecclestoned a royality are removed everywhere. That dick wants a percentage of every photo published on any F1 event.

Why in the world there was a concrete barrier at that location and not protected by tires is beyound me. What fricking idiot in F1 said "oh yea, a car wont get close here" should be fired. Or better yet, fire Bernie.

Thank God he is OK. I said in another post that I didn't think the chances were too good watching it yesterday.
It's amazing how well the modern cars are built to survive imapcts like that, and very good to see on the video posted just how quickly emergency crews and marshals get to the car.
I hope that any NASCAR fans watching the FOX show yesterday appreciate what went on there.

Hats off to the rules makers, the engineers, and the fabricators for teaming to make such a surprisingly survivable "pod" to protect their drivers. It has taken a long, long time, and too many deaths to get here. They should all be very proud of their collective accomplishment. Kubica, and surely others to come, owe them their lives.

Amen to that.

And this thinking is THE reason why I use a HANS for track evnts - the way it feels and knowing what it does.......makes me wonder why I didn't get one earlier.

I can't imagine hustling along at 150 with the neck wobbling to and fro, yipes.

The Canada course is a bit of a throwback to the 1970s......man that one section where the crash happed has GOT to be modified.

Bet it is in 2008 -

check out the corner worker in the bottom of the frame at about the 29/30 sec mark. He had one heck of a view.

Honestly, that is one of the things that I noticed first from that view. He too is lucky not to be hurt from this crash. Just shows how quickly things can get out of hand and vaporize a human in the blink of an eye. Yikes!

It is a real tribute to the safety design of both the chassis and driver equipement that he could essentially walk away from a crash like that. REally glad he was not hurt.

Luckily for Robert he struck the wall while he was elevated (in the air) and at an angle that he was able to deflect from.

Otherwise, even though this is 2007, this looks unsurvivable -

Watching the race coverage I feared the worst and was amazed when they said he had sprained his ankle. Initially it appeared that he hit the wall straight on, but seeing that video it looks as though the car was just high enough in the air that the bottom of the tub hit the top of the wall. Thank goodness! It's a fine line sometimes. Kubica needs to spend some time in church.

That corner coming up is a hairpin, on the other side of that concrete barrier there are cars accelerating off the corner. Imagine if that hadn't been there, practically a head-on collision. They probably should've at least lined it with tires though.

saw this live the other day and my sphincter HURT! this view is even more devastating as to the impact as he is airborne!

scared me silly he was dead.............real DEAD!

cant say much else except i do not like seeing that ever.

god was on his shoulders! or budda or allah or.......pick one or any! or all!

F-1 copyrighted all the known video ASAP, tried to get original live shot from their cams on you tube and could not get.

glad to see this surfaced also. maybe it will help point finger as to cause.

formula racing is PURE EVIL in my book after watching them front row center here in phx. before bernie pissed city of phx. off. hope they come back. nothing on planet like them!

I too thought he was dead the way he just slumped motionless after the tub stopped on it's side. I truly thought we had all watched Kubica buy the farm right there in front of us and 300 million other people worldwide.

After seeing the video above, I have to add that it's amazing that he didn't fly completely OVER the wall and end up in the laps of the cars coming off the hairpin. That would have been even more ugly, imo.
