Home Exercise Equipment
I'm looking to get one or more home gym machines. I'm interested in aerobic as well as resistance equipment. I'm asking for input because I want to buy something others have found to be very effective, high quality, and a worthwhile purchase, be it a particular elliptical trainer, rowing machine, multi-station set up, or whatever. If you want to trash something based on experience, as well, please do.
Like anyone else, I'm looking for value and bang-for-the-buck, but I'll fork up for premium equipment if I can justify it based on the criteria above. Anyway, thanks for any input.

The most important criteria has got to be laundry capacity.

I find stretching the truth to be pretty good exercise.

I have a LifeFitness elliptical trainer, I use it a lot, it is very well made and has all the elliptical benefits of low impact etc.
We checked out other brands, but many of them have short strokes and/or are built for people under 100kg...and I weigh in at 110kg....so we were concerned about long term durability. Price was so low I merely screamed, but it will last me longer than I need it....well worth the $2500CDN I paid for it IMHO... Dennis

I have a great home gym setup that I am very happy with. I have a bunch of separate (high quality) equipment that has worked really well and I would recommend it. It consists of:
Free Weights - Hex Dumbells 5lb - 50lb; Barbells 450lb Olympic Bench Press - Parabody incline / decline Lat Pulldown / Upright Row Machine - Nautilus Leg Press / Hack Squat Machine - Nautilus Preacher Bench - Parabody Incline Seat/Bench - Body Solid Treadmill - Precor Not cheap, but I have been using some of this stuff for nearly 10 years and it is still like new. It is high quality and I take care of it. Hope this helps. JA

My personal preference is a good simple bench and dumbells, a curling bar for squats and a pull up bar.

I had a Precor, which you will find in a lot of gyms and resorts etc.. It did finally wear out after four years at 8 ~ 12 miles per day, it was a good machine. I have a Nordic 2000 treadmill now, it's going strong and has fans built in, very solid.
Everything else I use is free weights and a Parabody leg machine. All sourced used as Nota said, the used market is huge, I think a lot of people buy new and never use the stuff, so I buy it used and wear it out, and in a few years replace it all again.

We have a NordicTrak and it works well. But I get most of my exercise from jumping to conclusions.

Used exercise equipment sells for pennies on the dollar. Some give it away if you agree to take if from their home. Hard to wear out free weights...

ok, I think we're getting somewhere. The Pelican Exercise Program (PEP).
Jumping to conclusions Dodging responsibility Stretching the truth Flailing about Running from your past I'd add burning bridges and killing conversations, but I'm not sure how many calories are involved there. |

According to calorie-count.com, surfing burns 204 calories an hour. By my best guess, that'd be 800+ calories I've burned today...
