Quality Fuels?
Ok, times are tough and most of complain over the price of Gas.
So, what Brands are quality fuels that will deliver the Best bang for the Buck. I use Wawa sold fuel cause they are cheap and down the street. but i notice my milage per tank can vary by 70 miles per tank when doing the same drive. (week by week). any experts want to chime in?

Arco is pretty cheap for non-off-brand stuff and my cars seem to run just fine on it. No change in average MPG.

pmajka - its all the same. The only difference is the profit at the pump the station franchise is willing to give up or take advantage.
I work with jobbers all the time - they will get fuel from who ever can provide it for the lowest price that minute. Its all the same stuff...

With the exception of those blended with ethanol (shudder), gas is gas so long as it has the same octane rating. Its all the same, prolly came out of the same tank. If not, it will come from a different place next week than it came from this week. Also it is dependent on the refining process that varies within tight limits, but does not always produce the same thing. It varies and the lab chemists blend it to obtain an exact product that meets specifications and is farily tightly controlled. Chances are it is sold to a wholesaler who supplies many different brands.
The ONLY difference is the additive packages, and they aren't all that different. Buy the cheap gas, put in a few capfuls of techron, and you have Chevron gas. It really is that simple. I've worked in many different refineries over the past quarter decade, none of em have any special process or secrets that make better gas. trust me on this one. |

One of these days, I am gonna get myself an electric sportscar with 700hp and 10 min battery charging time for 250 miles. And I know the batteries are real, because I developed them with AltairNano.

My p-car seems to run best on Shell V-Power. A close second is Chevron Techron.

Illinois mandates a minimum of 10% ethanol at all in-state pumps.

I used ARCO in my Mazda for years and got consistently 19 mpg. I switched to Chevron and got consistently 21 mpg. I believe its the 10% ethanol in the ARCO. This is after 1000s of miles of driving with both. Also, ARCO charges a 45 cent ATM fee, at 10 gallons in the Mazda, that's another 4.5 cents/gallon. If ARCO isn't 10% or more cheaper, which it never is, you shouldn't buy it. Also ethanol is a no-no or older pcars.
