**** W.
And i am, or rather WAS, a republican. |
Beretta,
We are conservatives...The republican party left us and went to Mexico.. |
Conservatives (like Reagan Conservatives) = current-day Libertarians IMO.
I'm in a wait-and-see pattern about Bloomberg and Thompson. The Dem candidates are a sad lot. |
Whoah, what is all this anti-W sentiment? I mean, who's _bringing_ him the bill, for crying out loud? Isn't it a democrat-controlled Congress that's producing the bill?
Sure, W's wrong for supporting it, but the initial blame (and the solution, if you're into writing to your Congressmen) is not yet on his desk. |
It previously failed a test vote...B2 begged the Repub Senators to support it...when Reid saw he had a chance of passing it, he brought it back for another test vote, this time passing with more Repub Senators supporting it. There's blame for everyone, but this was brought back at B2's urging.

Sorry. It's B2's fault, unles it can be pinned on Bill and Hillary. And Teddy Kennedy. He made B2 support it.

Conservative it is then.
I kinda doubt the repubs have really changed all that much though. I suspect that what we have now is a combination of events that has lead to the unveiling of those bastards for what they (and i am referring to all politicos here) really are; --illegal labor is an issue that has MAJOR impact on political funding (in a bad way) --W is from an area where many people know first hand just how nice it can be paying illegals minimum $$ and offering no benefits, workers comp, etc. --W is a dumbass. That is, he is dense enough to believe that he can wave a flag and get everybody into a war dance while he sneaks millions of illegals into the country to help his buddies. He is also simple enough to believe that the citizens of this country will lose interest in this issue if he shoves it down our throats and moves on to the next thing. So i believe the effect of all this is akin to Toto pulling back the curtain and exposing Oz for who he really is. We weren't SUPPOSED to have this as an issue. We weren't SUPPOSED to notice so damn many uninsured, illegal people running around. We weren't SUPPOSED to give a **** when Congress tried to slide em all in on the QT. W, IMO, has effed up big time in letting this become an issue and my guess is that when Senators get together for poker games they all grumble about what a mess W has made of their master plan. He really is just too much of a thickheaded imbecile to keep this out of the public eye. i'm glad it is front and center and, in a way, am greatful that W is such a dimwit. |
djmcmath,
We as Republicans supported Bush twice because we THOUGHT he shared our principles in smaller govt, Limited spending, better military, accountability and less taxation. This is a basic 30 thousand foot perspective. Never would I have thought that he would be a Mexican illegal alien advocate. He simply cannot believe that this country is under threat from terrorists and leave the boarder open as they has been. Either he is COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT or the threat of terrorism is a ruse for something else. I don't believe Dick Chaney is a moron and his cabinet too, so it must be a conspiracy. What type of individual, who is responsible for an entire nation leaves the front door OPEN, not unlocked when there is a known murderer on your block? Simplistic but a good parallel! Bob |

There has been no change, whatsoever in W's stand on immigration from before he was elected. Desperate attempts to attribute this to the Svengali-like control of W by Dems are just silly. They only work with people who haven't been paying any attention -- probably the same 41% who think Saddam was behind 9/11. |
Sounds like folks who are both hearing Dubya's words and also watching his actions........are unhappy. I struggle to come up with favorable conclusions to draw about Dubya and while I'd like to imagine he is consistent, I'm afraid I can't draw that conclusion. FWIW, one of the reasons I make the conclusion that Dubya is an idiot is that if he's not, the next conclusion is not as charitable. "Dumb" is the most favorable conclusion I can draw.
