Mens Dressing Room Behavior

I realize we are at war and there are more important things to ask about but please work with me on this....

I was at a major department store today with my wife. There was a big sale going on so I took several shirts and pants in the dressing room to try on, about 10 items total. Now only five fit so I left the others in the room. Is this the right thing to do? My wife says I need to put them back. I say I help to employ kids that do this job, if not for me they would be out doing drugs and drinking.

Also, it is NOT cool at all to have your wife standing at the entrance to the fitting rooms yelling at you, “Do the pants fit?, Do you have room in the crouch?, What size do you want?” If I was the only one in there it would not be a problem, but with the place full of other guys, it just isn’t right. I felt like I was 9 again.

I would rather get a root canal then shop for clothes, next time I'll go alone.

Your thoughts please.

Go shopping alone next time.

I usually take the clothes back but many places now have a rack right outside the dressing rooms where you are supposed to hang the "rest" instead of putting them back in the wrong place. Nice feature...

I don't go to department stores, shop on the internet and catalogs. I know my measurements and have a normal build so it's not difficult. Only thing I buy in a store would be a suit & quality shoes. And I always go alone, always. When I buy Levi's my wife gets them at the store and I check the fit at home but for as long as I can remember I've been 34X34.

Send a message via AIM to fintstone
Go on a weekday...or a weeknight...1-2 hours before closing. No one else will be there.
Take the wife to give you advice so you will not come out looking like a dork.

I hate trying stuff on in shops, but if I do get the chance I just hand the stuff that doesn't fit back to the attendant. I also get a kick out of asking the attendant if my girlfriend can come in with me...

I worked at Filenes one summer in HS. Leave the clothes that you don't want behind. It is actually easier for the clerks to put the clothes back in he right place from the dressing room than to go around and try to fix the racks and rounders that people try to do them selves.

If my wife were outside yelling, "Do the pants fit? Do you have room in the crotch?" I'd yell back that I didn't have nearly enough room in the crotch and ask why they never made pants with enough room there.

I do not leave it in the room, give it to the clerks at the door or if I need a different size bring it back to the rack. My wife leaves me alone when I shop,

cause she can give you her opinion of what looks hot on you...

Ha! I don't need to shop with Mike...it's not that he's great at choosing clothes (he isn't) - I have the first born son who is nearly 15 who IS great at choosing clothes...so I send Tom off with Mike instead .

In fact I LOVE shopping with Tom for myself...he's gonna make some girl very happy someday; he has great taste and flair...chose his Mum a micro mini a while ago (no pictures available) and the gals in the shop were astounded. His response - "hey I have a cool Mum, OK?!". Just last week he helped me with his younger siblings too. He has no doubt inherited his mother's eye .

And no...I don't think I've ever stood at the fitting room door asking Mike whether he has enough room in the crotch...I'd be in there checking it out myself .

Oh and leave the unwanted clothes in the fitting room; but do straighten them out and try to hang them on the hangers the way you found them. Do not leave them crumpled on the floor - this is not your bedroom (I'm teasing).
