It's not respected.

On the home phone have nomorobo and can't sing it's praises enough.

Have noticed an uptick in solicitation calls to the cell phone. Not terrible, yet.

As a rule I NEVER EVER give my cell number out to anyone other than friends or clients. Everyone else gets my google voice number.

I also NEVER EVER answer a number that I don't recognize.

I've had this same cell number 25 years and it's the only way to keep it useable.

yes I do. My phone has so many blocked numbers that it's a joke.

What he said... never give out my number and if my phone doesn't recognize the number I don't answer (if it is important they can leave a voice mail), call me paranoid but I can't help but feeling like if I register at a no call site they will turn around and sell my number.

They have to see your number on the do not call list, so they know to never call it.

Of course, if they are outside of the country, they don't have to abide by the list, so the do not call list has been sold to foreigners.

Has anyone else noticed the latest trend? I think they have started to realize that nobody is answering calls from an unknown number. Now, I am getting calls from numbers that are just a few digits away from my own cel number. In fact, my own actual number called me the other day, but with a '000' area code.

Crazy. I love the 'block caller' feature in iOS.

I've been getting calls on my cell phone offering extended warranty on my Abarth as well as any damn product.
I used to answer and tell them to go to hell.
As others, I don't answer anymore and block the #.

I get spoofed calls at home and my cell -both are on the DNC list. Most "companies" out there just spoof their number/name for caller id and hope you are foolish enough to listen to their sales pitch.

Yep, I get a bunch of local numbers calling me. I use my cell phone for business mainly, as I do not wish to speak to any of my family members and have no friends, I answer them all because on the other end, it can be a new client.

I hate Google calls. How in the heck did they get my cell number. I am really good about not giving my number out. Its ffrom Google listing and they want me to update my listing. I have no listing to begin with, then there are the real live sales person calling for the same damn thing. Doesn't google make enough money to have to come after the small fish?

The calls come from out of the country using spoofed numbers. Not much can be done about it unless the phone companies choose to get involved.

No, it does not work and I noticed an increase the frequency of callers directly after adding my self to the dnc list .
If I ever go postal, the first mfers to fall will be telemarketing companies. I will hunt them like they are deer .
I get more than 10 a day. Every morning when I get to work , at least half of the messages on my machine are robo calls, We get one every night at home, and now my cell phone is starting to get them .
I am like you guys 724,or 412 area codes only , anything else, I am not picking up .

I HATE this schite! I use my cell for business and will answer any local number, like Look171...it could be new business... 9/10 times it's "Sharon your local Google provider". Hey Sharon F*** OFF! (It makes me feel a bit better anyway). This is a well known spam call... They just call and call and call and call, from different numbers. Even if you push 9 to "opt out".

I have been getting a bunch of local spoofed numbers that are the "Microsoft network security administrators" lately. Live callers, I've been on a hair, so these clowns get "Stop the fraud and go F yourself". I used to just say "oh dang, I have a virus!!? I don't even have a computer"

Ok. Rant over.

Sad that we all have to put up with this crap. ☹

Oh wait! One more, anyone else a Tax evader getting calls from the IRS? LOL

Get a google voice number, or two, or three.

Use it as the business cell number.

Forward to your real number.

You can even get one in your local zip code.

One of the benefits is you can change your cell number as often as you want and you won't lose any contacts.

The best is when the caller ID shows your own name and number....

It's the same with "unsubscribe" links in e-mail spam. Some are automatic (i.e. "one-click unsubscribe") and seem to be more legit. The ones I can't stand are the ones that take you to a page that says "enter the e-mail address you want unsubscribed". Yeah, right. I figure most of the times you do that all it's doing is providing some software a valid, now-verified e-mail address for them to sell and mercilessly spam the schyte out of.

To echo the above, I don't ever answer calls from unknown numbers and when they do come in, they get blacklisted / blocked immediately. I rotate mobile numbers every few years (goes hand-in-hand with moving / relocating so it ends up being every 5-6 years and seems to work okay).

Ahh, the joys of globalization. One of many, many reasons I think the USA should tell the ROW to eff off and become much more isolationist than we presently are. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the USA-based companies simply forward the DNC registered list to their own subsidiaries who happen to be based overseas, or are simply owned 51% internationally (with the calls still coming out of the same center just "working for" that other subsidiary). The people who promulgate this stuff deserve to be flayed alive, IMHO.

Now that is funny. Spammer replying in a thread that he doesn't like spam.
