Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid keep offering me some kind of Kool-Aid, but I'm not much interested.

Geeze, I kill a 750ml bottle of pinot on my own a night or two a week. Some nights I have nothing at all to drink. Right now I have rather large glass of straight Maker's Mark in front of me, but having a normal sized drink wouldn't have left enough in the bottle to make sense to keep another night. I might have a beer or two after work, almost never drink during the day, unless I'm wrenching.

I have one drink every night.....1 1/2 oz of Crown Royal Canadian whiskey.

It is heart medicine in my opinion, allegedly to counteract my cholesterol....

Oh yeah, and if there is a party or something I drink socially.....

I go through phases. Sometimes 1-3 drinks a night sometimes I don't drink for weeks. Depends on my stress level.

If you think there is a problem, the problem probably exists.

A few Al-Anon meetings as an observer might give some insight.

1/2 a bottle for a smallish woman <130#s is actually a fair amount. She should be pretty buzzed after that. She'd be legally drunk.

The problem is that it'll probably just get worse from there.

I agree. It's the pattern that I would find concerning... having half a bottle of wine sounds like a daily "routine" that could get unhealthy really fast.

I have a close family member "on watch" for the same pattern. More concerning is the fact that she's drinking alone, and closer to a full bottle.

My wife and I are average drinkers. We sometimes have a couple glasses of wine/beer during the week, and occasionally get good 'n boozed up on weekends.

Is something wrong with drinking alone?

i make a deliberate effort to try and avoid alcohol if i know i'm depressed. on the occasions where i've been majory stressed in the evening, then it's usually a few shots from a shot glass of either bourbon or gin. i find at my age now (41), too much to drink in the evening simply interferes too much with my sleep pattern, and i usually can't afford that working 6-7 days a week now.

Hey, if you are at a bar by yourself but other people are around you, is it still considered to be drinking alone?

I rarely drink more than 1/2 a bottle of wine a night, but we buy the 1.5 liter bottles of Gallo, so . . . And I like to have a beer or two - Pabst - when it's hot. And I have a bottle of The Macallan sitting on my desk that looks pretty good. What time is it?
