I'd find sweet, sweet irony in it if he had some kind of incident like going into anaphylactic shock because someone switched his "juice" with something he's allergic to.

That'd be justice.

So, an upper tank shot would not be appreciated?

Hope he breaks the record. Hope he holds it for awhile (until A-Rod seemingly inevitably will break it). Not so much for Bonds, but so that this most revered of baseball records will be held by a guy everyone knows was a cheater. Baseball will be stuck with this stain of unsportsmanship that it won't be able to just brush under the rug and forget about in a couple years.

Ashame, for a guy like Bonds. Even before his hat size grew 3 sizes, he was on pace to have a Hall-of-Fame candidate career. Too bad his legacy won't be of that, but of 'roid use.

Which brings up another thought: the Giants' season will clearly be defined by Bonds breaking the record. Great (arguably--YMMV) accomplishment for him. But the team is what, the fourth worst team in the league? Last in its division? What an otherwise awful campaign. Baseball is a team sport--or it was the last time I checked. But who cares if the team gets a "W" (Maybe I'm naive, but isn't that supposed to be the point?), as long as BB gets the HR? It's entertainment. The Giants' baseball season is about as sportingly relevant as drifting is to auto racing.

Yeah, but who's image is worse? Barry Bonds or Pete Rose? So what if Bonds shot himself full of roid. Only a week ago, Mr. Baseball had a sit-down with some schoolchildren where he promptly lashed into profanities about Marge Schott not leaving him any money, and talking about showering with Joe DiMaggio, where he says he saw more of him than Marilyn Monroe. Real classy, Petey-boy.

Just like your autographed ball.

I do watch college football though.
Same here but with Formula One. So many of the players in the other sports are using illegal substances that I stopped watching years ago.

Think Mickey Mantle or Ted Williams, people I watched while I was growing up, used anything illegal to do what they did? Really doubt it...

If Mantle had injured his knee 20 or 30 years later, it would have been repaired, he would not have hit the booze so hard and he would have ended up hitting 1000. I suppose being convinced you are going to die of cancer might make you self destructive though, which was also part of his deal. Might have ended up being a booze jockey anyway.

You guys wishing him injury are a bit harsh. You are probably correct in that he is more likely to be injured, as the attachments of the tendons tend to get weak with anabolic steroids. His head is swelled by ego, and the steroids, literally a swelled head.

Its a shame that for those of us who still like to see the game played well won't see Bonds deserve a moment like this.
