Emergency In Indy-- Terror Alert- WTF

I would not believe it until I saw the news. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is now conducting spot checks for terror activities and contraband on, guess what, THE F--ING INDY BUSES. Thats right, if you board a bus in our city, your backpack and packages can get checked for who knows what. I dont recall any terror attacks on any of our buses, but we now have TSA employees manning spots around Indy to keep an EYE on people who ride the buses. Word has it that they found 2 knives, whooooooopeeeeee, thats a first, a knife on a bus. This program is called VIPER, of course funded by our own US Govt. Look for it in your city soon. We are loosing more and more freedoms every day and I'm sick and tired of it.:mad:

Just remember, God is on our side..

They are not doing it for fun, there must have been a threat.

We landed at a private airport outside of NYC recently. They checked the entire airplane for a threat other than I have ever seen before. What the threat was am not going to mention but they were not doing it for fun, someone heard or found something to clue them into a possible threat.

to be fair, I believe they are trying to not wait until AFTER an attack on a bus. waiting until after the attack to start checking for things isn't as productive.

like joe suggests, there must be more behind the story, it seems unlikely they are doing it just for fun.

What "freedom" have you lost due to the extra safety measures? You are "free" to not ride the bus right?

Dantilla 08-02-2007 03:17 PM

A cousin who is on the inside loop in state government knows of a few very serious threats that have never made the news.

We have busses in orange County, but only illegal immigrants ride them ;)

Sure, if you can afford a car. But the poor that can't afford a car, they don't deserve rights, do they?

now you're learning. just like lawyers, the poor can't afford them so they get less favorable results from the "justice" system.

The "freedoms" I talk about are the ones that are in our constitution. Unreasonable search and seisure. There have been NO problems in Indy as far as buses are concerned. The women who had her bag searched said,"whats next, are they going to come to my house and search that". She was about 70 years old and did nothing but try to get on a bus. Whats next, searching my car before I view the Grand Canyon, or Key West. Big Brother is everywhere and closing all to close.

that's what they are experts at: taking away rights and taking your money.

they suck at everything else, like securing the border, keeping the bridges safe, and everything else that matters to us citizens. God Bless America

cases of government abusing power are rare and all have turned out to be hoaxes set up by lefties. I wouldn't worry. In fact, you should just go shopping and have a mocha latte to settle your nerves. mmmmmm mocha.

Right, not a single example comes to mind at the moment...

Some talking heads of policy agree that totally preventing another attack is impossible. This group also agrees that the best they can do is head off a catastrophe. Taking down 3-5k people is a lot different than an rpg attack.

not saying this applies here.

Government is elected by the people for the people. Clearly government only has the public's best interest in mind when making decisions. Want proof? We elect people with whom we can have a beer. Guys like that you can always trust, because you can have a beer with them.

RoninLB 08-02-2007 05:29 PM

how about a good movie!

and if they don't check and something happens what will we say then?

I've travelled to most countries out there and let me tell you, the checkups in the USA (still today) are nothing compared to what I've been through.

I'll say a small incovenience is worth a life...

[sarcasm=on]"If you've got nothing to hide, what's the problem?"

So please drop your drawers, this cavity search will only take a second. After all, we want everyone to be safe, right? Think of the children! [sarcasm=off]

Sounds to me like a bunch of law-enforcement types are simply doing their damnedest to keep themselves relevant.

i heard that too...like the "no new taxes " threat of a decade or so ago...well that didn't pan out did it?

id10t 08-03-2007 04:48 AM

out of curiosity, are CCW "permits" issued in the state? Be interesting to get a bunch of folks with them to try and get on a bus... :)
