Met another Pelican yesterday...

I had the chance to meet another Pelican yesterday. George (Kach22i) and his wife Kim visited us and we had dinner and great conversation. They are great folks and we are glad we finally got a chance to meet them. It's really nice to be able to meet people that you've gotten to know a little on this forum and see what they are like in person. George and Kim are fun people, the kind of folks you would love to spend a Saturday afternoon with! We talked cars, life, etc... then checked out each other's cars (George has a very nice 911S Targa) and compared Porsche 911 ownership experiences. I'm glad we met and I look forward to meeting more Pelicans!!

George and Kim even met our "attack ferrets" Corky, Cinnamon and Spice and lived to tell the story. I wish more Pelicans lived nearby so we could meet and swap stories and put a face with a name. Very fun!

That's pretty cool. I imagine that there's not a lot of Pelicans in your area.

No, they didn't bring the hovercraft, they drove over in the 911. I forgot to take pictures and George made some excellent hummus that he brought with them.

Kim,
Thanks! Corky is dying now (male with pancreatic cancer and mast cell tumor in his ear), but he's not in any pain and we're keeping him comfortable and happy, but we will not do surgery...

One of the girls (the darker one, sable colored) had a tumor on her neck that will eventually kill her. These little weasels just don't live long enough! That's the only negative thing I can say about our ferrets...

This thread and others like it have convinced me that I need to make an effort to meet the folks here and get to know them and enjoy their company... and not to waste time!

Howard passed away...

These are good stories to tell. I sold my wife's 4Runner to Paul (Seahawk), and it was an excellent experience. I had a good time shooting the breeze with him about a number of topics, and only wish he could have hung around longer.

There's some great people on this BBS, despite the fact that we all spend a good amount of time arguing in OT. The variety of experience and knowledge never ceases to amaze me. Anytime I have a question, I know I can find an answer on Pelican.

Yep, I've been fortunate enough to meet several Pelicans. Last summer toolman (Dave) came over and helped me put the engine back in my car and he gave up 2 of his days to help me out and I really appreciated that! Tab Tanner and a bunch of others have helped me out and without them and this site, I wouldn't be able to keep my car on the road!

I still remember the time Kurt V offered to drive 8 hours (+/-) to help me do my first 911 engine drop! Had to tell him no, I don't think I could have fed him enough beer and steak to make that worth his while.

Hello Art, Kim and I had a good time it was great finally meeting you, your wife and kids.

Thank you for lending me your ears (and other Porsche parts), I'll be doing that valve touch up in the next couple of weeks and will let you know how it goes.

I love the sound of the carbs on Helga, that might have to be my next serious upgrade.

George,

Thank you, we really enjoyed our visit with you and Kim. Now that you know where we live, don't be a stranger. Stop by when you're in the area!

Except the part about my debit card...you must have been looking for 911 on the cell

I have met four from this board, Rick, FPat, Denis and the Puppy...all as cool as the other side of the glacier.

BTW, the 4Runner is now officially and completely my wife's...

Paul, some days I have trouble remembering my own birthday. Don't get me started on my anniversary and other "important" (according to the wife) dates. Forgotten ATM PIN is just another day in my life.

Wife latched onto the 4Runner huh? Does she let you drive it? After driving halfway across the country to deliver it to her, that's the least she can do.
