do i need another one?
for whatever reason, I've always loved single stacks, and 9mm is cheaper to shoot. But do I need a 3rd Sig?
p220 9mm euro http://san1.atlanta.gbhinc.com/GB/07...x951156218.jpg |
Get yourself a G17. ;)
|
I hate Glocks. Don't like the way they feel in my hand.
|
Go get a Browning High power in 9mm. If you can't afford "the real thing", the best new ones made are Fabrique National. The "Brownings" made today are not made by FN. I have one and EVERYONE loves to shoot it. I am still looking for a good gunsmith to lighten the trigger and make the thing even more accurate.

Yup. I've shot a G17, and shot a G22 last weekend. Didn't like either one. The p220 9mm is like a slightly bigger version of my p225.
|
"Need" is a relative term. Go for it.
|
Get the REAL P220 in .45ACP. Gunbroker has German police turn-in P225's for $375 buy it now. I'm thinking of picking one up, as I've just always wanted one. After that I want an East German police Makarov, though it shoots a different 9mm.

Nostatus save yer pennys and buy a SIG P-210...
The Browning HPs where the parts are made in Beligium and assembled in Portugal are underpriced for what they are, and the way to go. Hey Redd...Mars Armament does some nice work on HPs http://marsguns.com/Home.htm |
May I suggest to everone to check out the CZ 75's they are availible in 9mm and .40 S&W. They are availible in almost any configuration and they are very well made. I have a Browning 2 tone in .40 S&w and love it. Both the CZ's and Browning's have kits availible that allow you to take off the slide and install a .22 assembly for plinking/target practice. Also hunting season is upon us, and one deal that I think needs to be mentioned is the Mossberg bolt action rifle combos forsale at Academy. I think they run approximately $300. and are availible in 30-06, 308, 243, and 270 I have looked at these rifles and for the price they seem to be as good of quality as my Browing Abolt. The actions are very nice, it has button rifling, and comes with scope. Good value for the money, but I would upgrade the scope asap.....

Rick,
I'll have to save a few pennies and buy one of those 220's |
I purchased a Sig 220 .45 for my dad last year. Very nice gun.
If you want a Sig 9mm, I would lean toward the 228. Frame size seem to fit the 9mm round nicely. Have you shot an HK USP compact? Very nice gun in 9mm. Just be careful of which variant you are looking at. They make all sorts of models, some are DAO guns, other standard double action, some with safety, some without, etc..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_&_Koch_USP |
The German 220's are discounted somewhat if they have the bottom magazine release.
If it's to be a single stack 9, how about a Walther P-1 (post-war P-38)? If not modern enough, a P-5 can be had also. But I'm somewhat of a sucker for older German stuff. Jim |

Thanks Rick! I guess my old CC is much like a 30 yr. fixed mortgage (from another thread...I'm different)...I did buy my CC in '78, and haven't touched it other than pulling the trigger and disassembly/cleaning (i.e. no mods). I'm not in the same league as many, so my "stock CC" is more up to the task than I'll ever be (much like a 911). I'd like to try a Sig, but I learned a LONG time ago to stay the hell out of gun $hop$ :)
|
You can never have too many Sigs! I love my P239 in 9mm!
|
If DC looses it's appeal of the ruling that struck down their control (prohibition) law, I'd like to get a couple Sigs, too. :)
|
I have four SIG's and two 1911's. More than I need, but never as many as I want. Next SIG is a P225 or the 556 big bad assault rifle. Eventually, I will get my dad's Commander and probably buy him a bone stock CPO P220 for him to have as a house gun.

Okay,.........If you want something cool, it is a little pricey and the ammo runs about $25 a box check out a FN-57 in 5.7 X 28. It is a pistol but the ammo looks like minature 7mag rifle rounds.....
|
In 1971 I remember trying to decide between a 6' Colt Python & a Gold Cup. Price was about the same, $230. I bought the Python. The last time I went to a gun show Gold Cups are $1500 for a rough one to $3000 or so for a clean one. Pricey but very few things feel better in your hand.

Todd:
Which would Pema Chodron choose? Mike |
I think Pema would make her choice in the moment, and likely would appreciate having a variety of paths rather than be forced into a single way.
|
Todd:
I read some Pema based on advice you gave to another person a year or so ago. I want to thank you for posting. I really enjoyed the reading and listening to a few CD's. Thanks Todd! Sincerely, Mike |
Mike, cool that it spoke to you. She is pretty amazing...not mystical or hung up on pretense, just straightforward and sane in a gentle way. I'd love to see her speak. They do video lectures of hers at Shambhala but it always seems to fall on nights I have my son.

I was a confirmed Beretta fan until my father and brother (both LEOs) convinced me to buy a Sig P239 almost 2 years ago. To me, the way the Sig feels and shoots is so much better than the Beretta that I shoot the Sig much more then the Beretta. My father has several Sigs in .45 that I'll eventually get as my brother has his own. The Sig is the Porsche of pistols, IMHO...
|
My P239 is my main carry piece now. Fits in the small of my back and is covered up well with just a t-shirt.
|
P210 or CZ75
|
have you priced p210s? Not in this kid's budget...
|
CZ75, then. Best 9mm ever, IMO.
|
i don't think i can get a 19 rnd mag shipped to CA

Get a real gun. The 1911 that has been "massaged" is a work of art...
|
No one here needs another one of anything....I'm thinking of selling everything I own and going and living in a Tibetian Monastery.
