do i need another one?

for whatever reason, I've always loved single stacks, and 9mm is cheaper to shoot. But do I need a 3rd Sig?

p220 9mm euro

Go get a Browning High power in 9mm. If you can't afford "the real thing", the best new ones made are Fabrique National. The "Brownings" made today are not made by FN. I have one and EVERYONE loves to shoot it. I am still looking for a good gunsmith to lighten the trigger and make the thing even more accurate.

I can appreciate that. Have you shot a full-sized model? I had a Ruger P95 that didn't fit well, but the full-sized Glocks fit me very well.

Yup. I've shot a G17, and shot a G22 last weekend. Didn't like either one. The p220 9mm is like a slightly bigger version of my p225.

Get the REAL P220 in .45ACP. Gunbroker has German police turn-in P225's for $375 buy it now. I'm thinking of picking one up, as I've just always wanted one. After that I want an East German police Makarov, though it shoots a different 9mm.

Nostatus save yer pennys and buy a SIG P-210...

The Browning HPs where the parts are made in Beligium and assembled in Portugal are underpriced for what they are, and the way to go.

Hey Redd...Mars Armament does some nice work on HPs

May I suggest to everone to check out the CZ 75's they are availible in 9mm and .40 S&W. They are availible in almost any configuration and they are very well made. I have a Browning 2 tone in .40 S&w and love it. Both the CZ's and Browning's have kits availible that allow you to take off the slide and install a .22 assembly for plinking/target practice. Also hunting season is upon us, and one deal that I think needs to be mentioned is the Mossberg bolt action rifle combos forsale at Academy. I think they run approximately $300. and are availible in 30-06, 308, 243, and 270 I have looked at these rifles and for the price they seem to be as good of quality as my Browing Abolt. The actions are very nice, it has button rifling, and comes with scope. Good value for the money, but I would upgrade the scope asap.....

I purchased a Sig 220 .45 for my dad last year. Very nice gun.

If you want a Sig 9mm, I would lean toward the 228. Frame size seem to fit the 9mm round nicely.

Have you shot an HK USP compact? Very nice gun in 9mm. Just be careful of which variant you are looking at. They make all sorts of models, some are DAO guns, other standard double action, some with safety, some without, etc.....

The German 220's are discounted somewhat if they have the bottom magazine release.
If it's to be a single stack 9, how about a Walther P-1 (post-war P-38)? If not modern enough, a P-5 can be had also. But I'm somewhat of a sucker for older German stuff.

Not to hijack, but I've had my Colt (Combat Commander) for almost 30 years (along w/ everthing else I own), and don't know squat about "new" stuff. Can someone with experience with both the (older?) Colts and Sigs offer some comparison between the two?

I grew up on my dad's Commander. I helped my mom pick it out for him for a Xmas present when I was six yrs. old. That's about all I ever shot for autos until college, when I discovered SIG Sauer. Two TOTALLY different animals. And which is better for you depends on what you'll use it for. Right out of the box, I'd say a SIG is far superior. I mean, does anyone still own a Series 70 Commander that hasn't had all kinds of stuff done to it? Ramp polished? Custom sights? Rubber grips? Custom trigger? Honestly, I SIG shoots dead accurate as soon as you get home from the gun store. A Series 70 Commander only cost around $150 new back in the day, but you know you have 3x that amount into it over the years and most of that was necessary. I bought my P220 new about 12 yrs. ago for $640ish. Since then I'm on my second set of tritium sights, added rubber grips, solid guide rod, all new springs and had Robar refinish it in two-tone. So I have $1000 into it. I bought a Series 70 Commander just like my dad's a few mos. before I got the P220. Commander ran me around $450, but was bone stock. Which do you think cost me more money in the end? Yes, the Commander and still never shot as straight as my SIG. P220 is a little thicker in the grips, has a bit more of a trigger pull (unless you have that fixed) and the decocker and double-action features are just night and day from the cocked and locked style of 1911's.

Thanks Rick! I guess my old CC is much like a 30 yr. fixed mortgage (from another thread...I'm different)...I did buy my CC in '78, and haven't touched it other than pulling the trigger and disassembly/cleaning (i.e. no mods). I'm not in the same league as many, so my "stock CC" is more up to the task than I'll ever be (much like a 911). I'd like to try a Sig, but I learned a LONG time ago to stay the hell out of gun $hop$

If DC looses it's appeal of the ruling that struck down their control (prohibition) law, I'd like to get a couple Sigs, too.
