Bosch Appliance Experiences?

We have bought a new "older" home and are looking at upgrading all the kitchen appliances. While looking around we have found a good deal on GE Profile, a brand we are familiar with and like very much. We also found a KILLER deal on Bosch.

We really like a few of the features on the Bosch appliances like a true ounter depth refrigerator. We also think they have the better aesthetics. So we have been researching Bosch every way we can. The only ratings we find are on E-Opinion and they weren't very good. Anyone have experience with Bosch, particularly their gas ranges?

Thanks!

I haven't owned any myself. But I have a friend in eastern Germany, who, after the fall of the Wall, opened her own shop selling appliances. Her own house was completely redone with Bosch stuff, some Miele and Bauknecht. I was over there a lot and my impression was that it was super high quality stuff. Much more stylish and ergnomic than the stuff we have here too.

Here in Europe they are very popular (the brand is German). I would rate them as a premium brand, second only to the best of the best (i.e. Miele)

I have owned a washer/drier for 7 years now with zero problems.

Just from in-store impressions, they would seem to be very high quality. A while back when I was doing some research on appliances, Consumer Reports typically rated Bosch near/at the top. Not knocking GE stuff, but Bosch is much nicer.

My parents had Bosch appliances in England for ages and were VERY pleased with them. They might even still have them, but I haven't been over in a few years.
As others have said, they have a very good reputation in Europe and are definitely considered one of the top brands.

We just finished a new house and bought the Bosch gas stove and Bosch front loading clothes washer and dryer. We are very pleased with the performance so far, but like I said we've only been in a short while (1 week). The Bosch replaced the GE profile gas stove in my old house.

So far, I like the Bosch stove better, but I'm comparing a 8 year old GE stove to a brand new Bosch. My wife says the washer and dryer are very good, but again we are comparing an even older top loading (old style) washer (12 years) to a brand new front loading Bosch.

We did no research at all, I figured if my Bosch MFI is still working great, then performance of my appliances must be good. It's probably a false sense of security, but we'll see. Sounds like the responses so far are good, with the exception of epinion.

LOL, only a true early car guy would think in those terms! But that makes me wonder if I would need to call Gus or Matt Blast if we have a problem!!!

Thanks for the input.

We have a GE Profile refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher. We also have a GE water heater and washer and dryer (Adora, front-loader) and are 100% satisfied with all of the appliances. Our neighbors selected all Bosch appliances and they are also 100% satisfied with them. You are probably good with either Bosch or GE as they both seem to make good stuff...

You'll find Bosch replacement parts really pricey. That being said, I have a 14 year-old Bosch dishwasher that won't die...

When we built our house a few years ago, we ended up with a mix of both GE and Bosch. We have GE double ovens and an Advantium speed oven, combined with Bosch cooktop and dishwasher. We selected based on getting the highest quality at the best price.

All of them have given us absolutely no problems in 3+ years. The Bosch dishwasher is so quiet you can only tell if it is on by looking at the lights on the panel.

The advantium oven is incredible - we rarely use the double ovens at all.

We have a Bosch dishwasher in our office, and there are times when I've been standing right next to it and didn't know it was running.

Screw Bosch and their half a$$ customer service! We bought a new Bosch dishwasher(top of the line) about 3.5 years ago. It took 2 years for them to get it to work right. Bosch has the absolute worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. I was ready to throw the thing out after so many calls and visits from techs. They even told us we should have bought it from one of the big box stores so we could just return it but because we bought it from an authorized appliance dealer we could not get them to take it back. Then when the handle pulled off they would not warranty it because it was dealer installed. That's right, their part, their dealer! Finally a tech came out and replaced some obscure part and fixed the problem, about 2 years after it was installed. Then he had to come back and replace a few missing screws that various techs had left out. All of our other appliances are GE Profile and the only one we ever had problems with was the refrigerator which was handled promptly and professionally.

Sadly, collectively we could all probably write a novel-sized list of companies with bad customer service. The good ones, ummmmmmmm.........

+1 on the quiet...but replaced the 1st after 8 years. I dunno what the life span is on these. I'll probably try the fridge next. Have a Wolf stove/oven...can't really beat it.

We don't hear ours running until it drains then the sink makes some noise.

I happened to be in Lowes when a guy returned his Bosch dishwasher because it was a 1/2" too tall. I got it for less than half price because they didn't want to repackage it or ship it back.

About 18 months old now, no problems.

Overall, I think Bosch is above average on Consumer Reports.

Actually, that is what is so interesting. At the big box store here (HH Gregg) it is less expensive than GE Profile and way under Kitchen Aid.

Here's Consumer Reports take on stoves. You can see GE Profile is expensive, but rated well.
