I thought the sam thing.....but it's not as much as you'd think. Live, they're dead on.....it's clear they're not doing that much mixing in the studio. If you get a chance, go and see them...they're one of the best live bands I've ever seen (this was my 3rd time seeing them).

if not of you are familiar with KFOG in san francisco you might give their website a try. they stream the station audio on line and are very cutting edge on finding new talent. i have heard many, many new groups 1st there long before they hit mainstream stations. a few examples is the one noted above, robert Randolph, dave mathews a year or two before he became a household name,, tim Armstrong (much like "the specials" an early 90s ska band), the ditty bops (a silly fun sounding chick band i like a lot) xavier rudd, nora jones, ray lamontagne, jack johnson, keller williams and many others. they also play a lot of classic rock that you will already know.

not really a red state format though.
