Photoshop Help Needed

Can anyone help me white out the background of a photo.

It's of my 2 and 5 year old grand daughters.

Thanks

Gino

YOU CAN CUT OUT THE KIDS
with the out line tool
and deleat the back ground and just save the kids
or replace it with anything you like

Any chance you can host a high-res original somewhere and post the link? Be a lot better to work from, especially if you want to print the result.

Steve, any suggestions on where to post?
Would e-mail work better?

Thanks much

Gino

Here's a couple of 4x6 crops. I e-mailed you the high-res versions.

Steve:

Do you have to actually follow the outline manually to cut out the background like you did above or do you use the "magic wand" tool . . . or some combination? Just curious if there was an easier way than outlining the subject "by hand".

TIA,

Kurt

Steve, which method do you use? I'm curious, also. We sometimes use layers and masks here, and sometimes we use the 'by hand' to select what we don't want selected, and then invert the selection... and delete.

So, yeah, which method do you use?

I just used a white paintbrush by hand to paint over the background. It leaves a slight feathered edge, then feather some more to make it smooth and not a harsh edge with around 20% opacity.

Bezier tool and layer masks are your friend.
