Bosch Dishwasher too a crap

Only 4 years old, $400.00 plus to repair. I will but either a Whirpool or Kitchen Aid as per the repair guys suggest, much easier to work on.
The bosch need to be completely dis assembled to work on.

Thoughts?

I haven't heard a lot of good things about the new generation of appliances. Simplicity is efficiency, and they seem to have gotten away from that.

I agree my wife and I purchased a Maytag washer and electric dryer from Best Buy about 2 years ago. We purchased aprox. middle of the road in regards to price and features. About 14 months into ownership the dryer starts squeeling like a pig!! We called out a service dude and he replaced the belt tensioner and the felt pads the drum rolls on, he says this dryer is a piece of ****. Well fast forward about a year and you guessed it she has started squeeling like a pig again !!!!!!! The belt tensioner is the culprit. I'm going to remove it and try to figure out how to apply grease into this assy so it won't squeel. Damn plastic piece of crap Why can't they use a metal roller on a steel pin that's greasable You would think the environment this has to live in ( constant rotation, heat, lint ) that they would over design the tensioner I just don't understand why a major brand like Maytag would use this cheap crap

Our brand-new(!) front-loading Whirlpool clotheswasher blew a motor control board. Wet clothes have been in a basket for a week now waiting for the special order..

I've seen ancient Whirlpool everything, and was pretty suprised since we paid an extra $100 for the brand and style.

Yeap. . . That was my thread. And yes, I went out and bought all new Bosch kitchen appliances. Everything! Range, refrigerator, dishwasher, vent hood. I guess time will tell.

How about a counter point?

My Bosch is over five years old. Never had a problem with it. Plus, it's still wisper quiet. That's the reason I bought it. Nice and quiet.

Problem with my Bosch was the control board. All of a sudden the thing would run for 2+ hours..still real quiet though and the dishes would not dry.

Took out the control board, as listed as a problem on the web, hit a couple of the solder joints and it has been running back at its quiet self for about a year and a half now.

I posted my problem (with problem spot) here: Bosch Dishwasher Stuck

It's likely a burned trace or solder joint. They (all) design for dual voltage. . .. but really only barely for our 110/120. THe higher voltage ROW can get by easy with lighter traces . .. for us, they are like fuses ready to pop. --tho' usually easy to find and fix.

mine did the same thing. lord knows what some fuchtard repair man would have charged.

Gotta admit that having something break and then being able to actually fix it by soldering the board was quite satisfying.

Okay, I know nothing about soldering a circuit board. A little more details of what you did would be great.

I had a $1500 Bosch dishwasher just fail after maybe 50 uses. It was around 4 years old. Had a guy come out and give me a quote for $500 to replace the drain pump. I had it tossed and replaced it with a $500 Whirlpool. The Bosch was quiet, though.

This thread reminded me of a funny incident last fall when the fancy Bosch oven at my cousins' cabin locked itself shut w/ a roast chicken inside. Apparently it locks in the self-cleaning mode and the circuitry somehow fried or malfunctioned when some guests were using the cabin who were unfamiliar w/ the oven.

We tried to open it later for them, I was up a couple of weeks later and he casually mentioned the stuck bird in oven. At least it was fully-cooked and did not start a fire. They eventually threw it away and replaced it, could never get it open or get a repair person to rural Wisconsin(?)

Here is my Mom on the phone w/ Bosch technical help, probably some person in Bombay:

I have all Whirlpool here for last four years. My Mrs is death to machinery, so Whirlpool is the only stuff that will survive. Used daily and bulletproof so far (touch wood). Plus the energy ratings are triple A, noticed the difference in our electricity bills immediately.

Maytag washer/dryer coming up on 10 yrs for the set. Active family we average minimum 2 loads a day. Not a hiccup. Kitchen appliances are all KitchenAid pro series. Very robust and easy to clean.

My parents have a Bosch d/w - they're Euros who like Euro stuff that looks cool and costs big $$. No complaints from them but they still hand wash all the dishes. I don't think they ever ran their fancy dishwasher...so who knows...it sure looks cool though.

Bought my Bosch dishwasher from Sears. It was a demo. Bought it for half price. Wouldn't run. Sears guys couldn't fix it.
I opened it up and switched a plug on the board. Has run great ever since. The biggest problem is finding a service person familiar with the unit. Most are not. Well made, quiet, and cleans dishes. I've had mine for 5 years now.
