Paint Code
I have a perplexing problem, and I can't seem to find the answer! I have called the Porsche dealer here in San Antonio, Texas, paint shops, and other places to obtain help, but to no avail! I can't find the paint code on my 1982 911 Targa anywhere. I have looked on the door pillar, under the hood/trunk, engine compartment, and the car frame. I am told that there is a plate with the code on it, but I can't find the plate. The car is Burgundy in color, and I am not sure if there was only ONE burgundy color in that model year!! Can someone on this site help me with this?
Thanks Ozzie |

The paint code is usually 2 places.
1. A paper option list on the underside of the front trunk. ![]() 2. A sticky on the left side of trunk wall - left of the spare tire. ![]() If neither still exist on your car then you guess . . . or post a picture & somebody should know. Ian

Thanks Ian. I guess I will have to guess! I did see a Gray label in the engine compartment next to and left of the other labels with a code: 895 9 ?
Y9 The label appears like that, with the last number on the fisrt line undiscernible. I called NAPA, who is handling ALL early Porsche queries on paint codes now, and they told me that it should be a "wine burgundy" color, which it is! So, I am hoping that the paint I bought from them is a good match! |

that's where the 'special order' color sticker goes. Most likely not a paint to match, but rather just one of the "special' Porsche colors for that year.

You could always spend the $ for a CoA from PCNA...
Wish I had gotten a "real" Kardex many moons ago when it was still possible for the 356...

PP search is still a little quirky, but here's a quick Google:

I am sorry, but I am not familiar with COA. I am assuming you do mean Porsche Club National? Do you have contact details? Thanks!

My dad's '84 Carrera Cab is that color, pretty colored leather seats too, not quite brown, he said it was cork or something. Pretty color, black on his Fuchs is getting pretty worn though
