My baby's gone...just don't know what I want!

Yes, I sold my baby. Took me years to get it dialed in. 89 Carrera Targa, Timmins 3.6 V-ram, 930 brakes, suspension mods, etc., etc.

It's going to a great guy in Santa Barbara. Shipper picking it up on Thursday.

We moved up to our lakehouse a couple years ago. Since then, auto-x and DE just don't fit in my schedule any more (3 kids, job, lake, etc.), and honestly, I've gotten it out of my system, so perhaps I'm just not driven enough to make it happen. As a result, the P-car has been an occasional weekend run up and down the freeway, maybe a few backroads, but definately under utilized. Time to move on.

But here's the rub. I just don't know what I want to replace it...but I want something. I've studied every possible make and mark but have not found a hobby car that turns me on (considered other Porsche's, Corvette, Cobra kit project, etc., but no go). Certainly not enough 4 wheel enthusiasm to pull the trigger. We already have a waverunner, bow-rider, and a pontoon, so water toys are covered.

The only thing that I really have an itch for is a bike. I've narrrowed it down to a BMW K1200RS like this one currently for sale about 3 hours from my house:

I rode for years (Hondas, Harleys, and one cool old Triumph). Sold them all when we started having kids about 12 years ago. My wife is agreeable...reminds her of our pre-kid days, but I struggle with the inherent dangers of riding, especially both of us, with 3 young kids at home. Even though we live in a fairly low-traffic rural area, ***** happens.

So, unless a revelation strikes, or you guys somehow make the lightbulb turn on, I'll probably stare at the empty space in my garage for a while. Budget would probably be under $20k. Open to suggestions.

Nice 911 - I'm actually on the hunt for something like that to replace my 951 "griller". Best of luck in your hunt.

Nice thing about bikes is they are generally cheaper to buy, cheaper to work on and take up less space!

Alfa GTV. An old Alfa is the only thing that could keep me from buying another 911.
