Written by a ghost author? Where's the thread? Where's the fire truck? Why is it so dark in here?

Sometimes a beat pos pumper or ladder goes for a few grand after they've tried to give it away to a kid's school or camp. Pumps are easy to rebuild, although it may not pass the yearly cert.

Awesome.

Too bad you didn't have it a few weeks ago - you could've tried it out on my 951.

I know you can pick up old fire trucks in sydney for 3 - 5k dollars. They're all working units with functional pumps (usually godiva) and are usually turfed by the nswfb when they become too expensive to maintain. I've been tempted a couple of times to get one just for the pump as I live in a bushy area & it'd beat the hell out of a little davey pump come bushfire season. Plus the old internationals have a thumping 8 cylinder engine in them that just don't die. About three months ago I did a three day driving course on a skidpan & closed track in a 30 year old international pump & had an absolute ball. Amazing fun! You really can't kill the things & theres still probably three dozen or so in service in the state as spares. The new models are lucky to last 15 years - don't make them like they used to.
For the seriously fire engine addicts here's a link to one of the larger working collections in the world.

There is a guy around here that rents out firetrucks for parades. I see his trucks in the July 4th parade.

There are always a few f-trucks at the monthly equipment auction here.
