My sons Pelican 908 school project

My sons kindergarten class is doing a unit on 'transportation' and they were asked to make something to bring in related to it.

So, he opted for a 'race car' and I felt the 908 would be easiest to replicate in common lightweight materials. Trick options include the air cleaner covers, the arrow stripe, reverse color scheme, Pelican sponsorship and foam roll bar. They are doing a parade in school with their projects and he will proudly be 'wearing' his.

Was a fun thing to do together and i swear i didn't push him towards a race car.

Can't wait to get him autocrossing!!!

If you look very closely you will find some minor inaccuracies vs. a factory 908. We did the best we could on a limited schedule and budget.

Looks almost real! I think that is a great project, next will be the pine car derby?

super cool. I bet he was/will be beaming at school. All of the boys will be jealous, and the girls will think that his cooties are more desirable than the other boys.

thanks for the nice comments!

my initial plan involved riveting sections of plastic to make a frame and building off of that but alas time and $$ reared their ugly demanding heads.

would like to learn how to weld tubing together (already have a Mig just need to figure out the process for getting tubing to fit tight) and start on a low power gas go kart this summer.

Great! Very good effort.

As for "would like to learn how to weld tubing together (already have a Mig just need to figure out the process for getting tubing to fit tight) and start on a low power gas go kart this summer."
