Porsche Crest New Whale Tails

Check out this 997 and the Turbo tails. I sure like the aesthetics of the tail on the right. Smooth, profiled aerodynamic and looks fast. The tail on the right is acceptable but isnt as wide and sporty. The turbo has better bumpers and gear in the rear. I dunno, I'd take the one on the right.......

I dunno - the one on the left seems like it'd be a bit tighter and grippier in the curves.

But I wouldn't turn down a test drive of either. . .

If there's one thing I've learned in my time on the track, it's that the equipment is only perhaps 20% of the game. The most important factor is talent/skill. You just never know. Frankly, the tail on the right looks best at a glance, but my WAG is that the one on the left is the better performer. But again, you just never know until you take to the track.

You take the whale, and I'll take the tail. Either one.

The dead fish on the right is wishing she was with the one on the left. That would be fun.

The one on the right looks like it's sporting the first gen Boxster exhaust, only wider. I bet it looks more like a sturgeon than a whale upon closer inspection.

Again I have to reiterate, that the one on the left just probably couldn't produce enough down force to grip and take advantage of the accelerations and thrusts. I dunno..I think maybe both could load your rear end with enough energy to feel the bumps and slides. My experience is both tails squeal on thrusts and moan will being pulled through the stress loads...I dunno..Just my experience with smooth high energy down force may be limited..Maybe one should be carrying a tea tray?

Just a thought?

Bob

I need to hear how the exhaust sounds. From that, you can tell how tight the motor is. Also, do they develop leaks if you run synthetic oil? And how much mileage on them? I don`t mind a fairly used model, as long as the PO has not left stuff in it. Maintenance costs may be a factor to consider too for a daily driver.

The age those tails are getting, they could very possibly have fuel injection deposits and some residual lubricants left around ball joints and orifices. I would give them a good bath and see how they clean up. Give them a good wax afterward. I would lube there Racks and pinions too.

This thread is on its way south.....

Yup, I concur. Crud deposits are a well known problem on these models, because the injection system is wired too close to the exhaust. Things can get even worse if the heads have been twin plugged .

I don´t know. The one on the left seem to mirror more agility and flexibility.

It is a darn good picture. I´ll take all four of them and be happy ever after!

Silly You!

Pre-H20,

You obviously have not read the entire thread. Our comments are euphemisms for female anatomy. Being silly....

I'll try that on my wife and see what happens when she gets home. I'll check her Blow off valve staying clear of her waiste gate...

Get it now?

Bob
