It would be one thing were he a private citizen.

But, when you're one of the 'leading lights' opposing gay rights/hate crime legislature etc, it becomes a whole other matter...he's gotta be completely insane.

Apparently, loud whispers about his 'friend of dorothy' status have dogged him since he was in college. I dunno, I can't think of a single person that was rumored to be homosexual (with witnesses making allegations!) for many years and the rumors proved false. Normal straight guys are not called gay over and over and over...unless where there's smoke...

What IS it with these repubs and gay sex on the down low? Where's Talon News to cover such a hard hitting story when you need it?

Reports state that police Sgt. Dave Karsnia was investigating allegations of sexual conduct in Minneapolis airport restrooms when he went into a stall. The complaint against Craig alleged that he employed "a signal often used by persons communicating a desire to engage in sexual conduct."

I wish Mitt better luck finding.....ahem a new partner.

Someone please tell me what this "signal" might be, I don't want to accidentally use it.

The person who tried this on me (many times) eventually admitted his or her own sexual orientation (gay) after playing it straight and then bi-sexual for many years.

The words "projection" and "distraction" come to mind.

Not that I condemn them for their choice or genetic disposition, just wish they did not try to start rumors and make false accusations of others including myself before they came out of the closet.

Now it's all about gay rights with them, civil unions are an insult - they want full blowN gay marriage for everyone.

I have only moderate sympathy for their position.

I think there are plenty of such characters on both sides of the aisle, probably an equal number of those already outted and plenty more who have not been. I don't see what any of this behavior has to do with Craig's politics though. He already was prosecuted and should now be censured. I doubt he'll run for reelection, but he shouldn't get the party's nomination if he does. His position on hate crimes is 100% correct and has nothing to do with any of this. Why is anyone's life more vaulable than someone else's because he belongs to a gov't-sponsored grievance group?

I agree and feel that was just pandering to a certain group but as much as I respect the job police do I don't feel their life is any more valuable than mine either, yet that law is also in the books.

There was a rest stop along I-5 north of Seattle that got shut down about 20 years ago. It was allegedly one of the top meeting spots for gay men looking for young male hookers. The signal was a bandana hanging out of a hip pocket. Not sure if that is universal, but I doubt it. That would look pretty weird for a guy in a business suit at an airport.

So, really, I wonder what the "sign" is. Could a guy signal innadvertantly and attract undue attention? I would imagine it is pretty discreet, especially in an airport restroom. Tap with your left hand instead of your right? Fart once? Use a certain paper towel dispenser?

At any rate, it seems pretty damn weak (to me) to have arrested a guy based on nothing more than some sign he gave in a public place. Now if he had accompanied the officer to a place where they could have done something about it, and had dropped his drawers or something, I think they would have a case. At least a verbal proposition to confirm the intent of the "sign". Since the article does not specifically mention any of those juicy little tidbits - you know it would if they had them - I think we can assume there were no other indications he was looking for gay sex.

Jeff, I agree wholeheartedly! Makes you wonder why when the officer arrested him he didn't cause a big stink, deny everything vehemently and so on. Instead he settled in court to be convicted for a lesser charge with no defense whatsoever. not really what an innocent person does, huh?

He's a guilty as the day is long.
