George Clooney and I have something in common....
no, not the incredible looks, wardrobe and charm... or the villa on the lake in italy.. What he and I share, is the vow to never ever get married. Ever. Having been the product of a bad marriage, and terrible home life, in addition to multiple girlfriends, some long term, none of which have "ever been the one" + life experiences and a view of the world, im left with the conclusion" The only reason anyone should ever get married, is if they plan to have children and raise a family. |

There you go, Danny Ocean = George Clooney
![]() Seriously though...I doubt that Humans have the Capacity to be totally Monogamous... so, unless you are totally into and planning to raise a family and have children.... why go against your genetically programmed instincts and sign that contract? the 50 percent divorce rate has to speak for something... |

A coworker was offering me unsolicited advice on marriage one day. I asked how many times he had been married, he said 4 times so that makes him an expert. I laughed and said I've been married for 15 years (only marriage). he said I was a rookie.
Seems kind of messed up to me, how many things can your level of expertize be based on how many times you screwed it up? ![]() |

Joel, if the battle is still going on, end it. File the papers, get a court date and have your attorney represent you. Get a decision and MOVE ON. Yeah, I've BTDT. Within reason, the goal is speed. Life is short.

Marriage is a financial contract pertaining to the raising of children. Just my opinion, but that's how I see it.
If I were single, I cannot imagine a scenario that could lead to marriage at my age (I'm 49). I'm not cynical. In fact I'm happily married. But marriage is a serious financial contract designed for the protection of dependent children. As such, it has value and importance.

I've been married for 13 years now. In a row. To the same woman.
![]() We have had some difficult times, but we've been fortunate to go through them and come out on the other side with a stronger relationship. I just can't imagine where I'd be without my soulmate by my side... it would be hell. -Z-man.

Funny this poll should show up today.
Today is our 31st wedding anniversary. I sometimes wonder just how I got so lucky. Life is good. Les

My wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on 1/10/07 and I cannot imagine what my life would be like without her. We are very happily married and are also best friends...

You think too much to be truly happy.

Sup, Thanks, the battle is over, and I have since remarried.
We knew the marriage was over, she filed, then did everything she could to take as long as she could. Canceling mediation at the last minute and taking forever to reschedule, requesting a new judge, agreeing to things and then backing out so we'd have to start over. After 18 months of this I decided she wasn't going to have that much control over me and I didn't care how long it took I was going to start living my life as if we were no longer married. All in all it took 2.5 years... The biggest heartache for me is the kids. I have three, and the older two (now 14-15) will hardly say two words to me. I see my youngest (9) every couple of days though.

Wish I still had mine. Unfortunately, there were other plans for her.
I wonder why marriages tend to fall apart so often. Does pride and ego play the critical role? In some cases is it cutting off one's nose to spite their face?

Navin R. Johnson: And that's it and that's the only thing I need, is this. I don't need this or this. Just this ashtray. And this paddle game, the ashtray and the paddle game and that's all I need. And this remote control. The ashtray, the paddle game, and the remote control, and that's all I need. And these matches. The ashtray, and these matches, and the remote control and the paddle ball. And this lamp. The ashtray, this paddle game and the remote control and the lamp and that's all I need. And that's all I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one - I need this. The paddle game, and the chair, and the remote control, and the matches, for sure. And this. And that's all I need. The ashtray, the remote control, the paddle game, this magazine and the chair.
[walking outside] And I don't need one other thing, except my dog. LOL. it's human nature to want just a little more. That's all it will take to make us happy, just a little more. People in relationships sometimes want a little more but they don't want to give up anything. it becomes a tug of war, sometimes it becomes a "grass is greener on the other side" thing. My wife is comfortable and does her own thing. Same here. We are both happy and don't want to start over. Whoever said that for a marriage to work both people need to like and share the same things were full of balogna. That may be the case in some marriages but not all. |
