				It's stupid hot.

Being a tough ol' ***** living in a 75 YO historic house has some severe ramifications. It's 93* inside at 7 PM. How do ya like that? But, the real stupid folks are at CA Speedway watching the stock cars. About 105 with the humidity of thunderstorms all around. I saw over 100 in the shade earlier.

I'm right over at the beach and it's still f*cking 85 degrees inside here. AND I've had two air conditioners running full blast all day (don't even want to know what that's gonna' cost me). I think I'm giving SoCal about three years to shape up, after that I'm outta' here. Between the bums (yea, I got bummed up for change while SITTING AT THE F*CKING BAR EARLIER TONIGHT trying to stay cool and enjoy a beer), the ghetto-trash, the illegals, the run-of-the-mill idiots, the "sideways-hat-retard-squad", the $2,000-a-month minimum to live someplace where I won't get shot walking home at night (in a f*cking furnace surrounded on three sides by ghetto and the fourth side by polluted water and a lovely view of the port of L.A.), I think I'm reaching the end of my rope. I'm going to give my job three years. If I don't make partner by then, f*ck it. I'm gone. Enough of this schit.

Oh, I've got one room cooled down with a window unit. It's a nice comfortable 85 and I'm watching the race. I have to do that or my cat might croak.

85 today is only marginally tolerable. This humidity is killin' me. If the R.H. goes over 25% I think I'm gonna' die. I can take 110 in the desert (I've gone camping in AZ and NM many times) but I friggin' hate humid.

Anything this time of year under 100 is considered cool here. And, with 30% humidity or less, all I have is an evaporator cooler (well, except for the master suite which has A/C) and the inside of the house is 78. I LOVE it!!!!

well it's 67F here in NWNJ, got all the windows open and a blanky on the bed. The downside is that its a harbinger of things to come.

To soon it'll be 17F ,all the windows closed, electric blanky cranked up and the worst of it ...the scooter will be garaged![]()

There's plenty of bad things about So. Cal., but the weather isn't one of them. Overall, it's the best weather in the US, probably even in the world (esp. for car guys), by far. |

According to statistics, the south of Sweden has not had so much rain in August since they started checking 250 years ago..

It has always been the armpit of Socal (even the good parts which are right adjacent to bad shops, crime, etc) I know, because I lived there for 2 years and could not believe it! Either go to LA or down to OC but being in the middle is only good for comuting salesmen...... ;-)

What a bunch of wimps. Sheesh. It's been 100+ for 4 straight weeks (just got relief yesterday) with 80%+ humidity. It's August in Georgia. No one complains...it's just the way it is. . .and it's well worth it for the awesome weather for the other 11 months of the year.

I was in S. Cal during your so-called "heat-wave". You guys need to toughen up. Living on the left coast has softened you up!

Every year it gets real warm here for a couple of weeks - this is just our "dog days". Last year honestly I think was worse - it was hot like this for about 4 weeks and there were transformers (including ours) blowing out all over the place.

Good news is I'm set this year with a portable gererator so if we lose power I'm all set. Long Beach has its good and bad - like everywhere. As far as moving, forget it. I'd never move back to L.A. Not ever. Not even if they paid me. I friggin' hate that city - between the traffic, the poseurs, the gangstas, etc. forget it. Never again. O.C.? Maybe. The notion of overpriced suburban sprawl doesn't really do it for me though. Most of the O.C. is just American Suburbia with nicer lawns and 5X the price tag of the same neighborhoods in the midwest. It's like Schaumburg, Illinois, just with palm trees and a big price tag and more Botox. If I move out of here eventually, I'd either go south to San Diego or north to the central CA coast - or leave CA entirely. Not sure. Either way, I've got a long time to think about it - I'm probably staying put for at least the next 2-3 years. Long Beach is kind of one of the "best kept secrets" of Southern CA actually, although I've seen that starting to break down over the last 3-4 years because of the run-up in prices. Used to be that "bang for the buck", this was the best area going - now, not so much (although I'd still take it over Hell-A any day of the week).
