Oh brain of steel, how'd it work in Japan? |
Yes....How DID it work inJapan? Overwhelming force....the committment to put as much men and materiel into the mix to assure the outcome. Big difference. Had the US tried to manage WW II on the cheap, the result might have been a lot different.
Not to mention a lot of what might be refered to as "good luck". (Midway, the carriers being out to sea at Pearl Harbor, the Atomic bomb which Japan was close to perfecting) |
Should we give up?
|
Give up? Hell no! We should fight smart. That means getting rid of the illiterate drunken coward in the White House.
There is another HUGE difference between Japan and Iraq. And between Kuwait and Iraq. The military is very good at what it does, but the "what it does" is narrow. It's absolutely a political "last resort" and wise leaders use it when all other efforts have failed. That was not the case in Iraq, despite the demonization of the UN, blah blah blah. But the big difference is that Japan was a country at war with us. Iraq is not. Kuwait was occupied, and needed liberation. The thing the military does best is the capture of real estate. That's a very important consideration that I think is lost on Bush the Lesser. The military is not a police force or a political tool. It is a means of capturing and securing real property. |
