Can't you people in CA leave well enough alone?

I just needed a cheap gas can to mix 2 cycle oil in for my gas trimmer and chainsaw. But noooooo... all gas cans now sold apparently have to meet the "CARB" criteria (even out here in boondocks, TX) and are ventless. Ever try to pour gas into a chainsaw or gas trimmer with one of these ventless POS's ??

Don't think it will be to difficult to make it vented however.....

Exactly - a titanium drill bit fixes that problem easily enough. At least that's how I fixed the problem on mine. Simple to plug too.

2-stroke outboards (larger than 10hp) and 2-stroke motorcycles are already banned in Calif. Gas cans and 2-stroke oil are next.

Charcoal lighter fluid.
Diesel engines.
Most guns.
Wood-burning fireplaces (in Central Valley)

etc., etc., etc.

Well, there go my RZ-350 dreams...

As to your list, 1) I believe the new 50-state turbodiesels will begin to populate CA in the next couple years. I don't think every car company (except GM, Ford and maybe Chrysler - go figure ), would invest billions into building these engines, partly for the U.S. market. 2) Charcoal lighter fluid - the best ribs and chicken comes from South-Central L.A. - same with 3) guns, and 4) wood-burning fireplaces are big in the San Fernando Valley (where it's cold in winter), and half the area is pissed it's going under a new area code (747), I wouldn't, at least, mess anymore with the SFV.

Otherwise, who cares? All is good as long as we have the Prius.

Please modify before putting in gasoline, or you may be in the running for a Darwin award.

I thought that was kind of a given, but thanks for clarifying. Yes, IMMEDIATELY UPON PICKING UP FROM THE STORE, before anything has been stored inside the can (other than air).

Your RZ350 is legal (pre-1986?). You cannot purchase/import/register anything newer.

Hey, just move to China... there you can pollute all you want.

And die early from all that pollution.

One doesn't need to move to China all one needs to do is buy Chinese products and you will die early from all that pollution they package in their products. Bon appetite.

It's not all the people in Kalifornia, only the bleeding heart liberal tree-hugging nazis who think they know how you should live your life better than you do. Some asshat told them it was their job to tell everyone else how to live and they ran with it.
They got tired of going after smoking so they made it a death penalty to drive with a BOC of .09%, then they made it illegal to use plastic bags, trans fat is almost a felony now, soda pop will soon be $15 a can because they will tax the crap out of it, but they made it OK to sell and smoke pot. Freaking idjuts make me angry (F-you rob reiner).
But they know what's good for you.

I wouldn't be surprised if I had to go out of state to buy one of the new clean-burning diesels. CA. doesn't like what it can't understand, particularly from engineers who, with reason, state that the new clean-air diesels "exhaust" cleaner air from the engines than the air that first goes through the induction system.

Meanwhile, our Governor is making a big push for hydrogen filling stations. Right, but in downtown L.A., in the museum of science and industry, is a Honda Civic that is hydrogen powered. Problem is the costs over $1 million.

Does anyone else here understand how dangerous Hydrogen is? Anyone else know its UEL and LEL?

Hydrogen has the widest Upper and Lower Explosive limits and the widest upper and lower flamability limts. It is also fairly unique in that is has a reverse Joule-Thompson effect. Most gasses, when they go through a pressure drop, the temperature goes down. With hydrogen, it goes up. If the pressure is high enough, a leak will auto-ignite. To store enough hydrogen you will have to have it under extreme pressure, or keep it cryogenically liquid. Good luck on the second one! Boiling point is 20 Kelvin, aka -423 F or -253 C. Abosolute Zero is -459.69 and -273.15 C.

I love it when politicians try to mandate things which have no basis in reality.

LOL, they'll never be able to efficently store hydrogen for fueling a car.
If they could make an efficient hydrogen=generating system for on-demand use it would be much safer, but they con't be able to do that efficienty. Maybe when gasoline gets to $20 a gallon the hydrogens cars might be worth it but not until then.

These same asshats sold us down the river with ethanol.
They first started pitching it to the country and some of us said no way, it's a rip off.
The lefties drowned us out with their shouts of green, green, green.
We now they are finally admitting that ethanol is not the answer. It takes almost as much energy to make ethanol as it produces. And...... drum roll ...... it produces more greenhouse gasses than gasoline so the al gore wackos had to give it up. Not to metion that it is a cause of increased inflation. Seems that corn is used in most food products in one way or the other. Corn syrip, corn startch, corn meal for feeding beef, pork, and chicken. All these products are going up in price due to the increase in corn prices, because of ethanol. If you only knew what all the real costs of ethanol are you would be glad to pay $3.50 a gallon for gas.

Yep - wasn't hydrogen once a bomb? It's sort of the same reason that if I were in the Navy, I'd never feel comfortable aboard a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

Fact is - there are some very, very efficient gasoline powered cars now on the market. BMWs get very good mileage for their high-powered engines. Plus, there's diesel. All this amounts to is good engineering.

But in CA. the environment and environmental lobbyists are the deciding voices. Of course, that doesn't prevent Cal-Trans from implementing wider freeways...
