Crib recall - Pay Attention if you have infants!

This recall affects Simplicity cribs, but many others have similar lowering hardware with the same problem.

We have a couple of similar cribs (now modified) for our twin girls. Three years ago my son was sleeping in his crib when all of a sudden we heard screaming. My wife rushed to his room and the baby was not in his bed- he was under it! The crib has a "bump to lower" feature and not only did the rail lower, the bottom detached and the baby slid out between the mattress and the side rail. We were very fortunate he was alright, but others have not been so lucky.

I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me bump stops to keep the rail from falling off the lowereing mechanism. It is a positive mechanical stop which works well and we are confident the problem can't reoccur.

What a tragedy for those parents.

I will forward this link to my son, whose wife is expecting in January. Thanks.
