English only please

Once in America, one should speak English and only English. Never any other language. Ever. Why?

Because English is the creme de la creme of languages.

That seems... narrow-minded.

Gee, 'ya think?

If I'm smart enough to be able to speak MORE than one language why do I have to pretend I'm not? Because it makes YOU uncomfortable?

Look, I agree those of us who speak another language should not use it in a way that is rude or intentionally exclusionary - to me that is uncalled for.

But the very concept that, "one should speak English and only English. Never any other language" is NOT American to me. Perhaps a bit Nazi Germany, but not American.

I suspect/hope that was frustration talking.

I think folks should be able to speak other languages, but I also think that expecting the US to mold to yours because you won't learn to speak ours is ridiculous.

I can speak three languages, and understand a couple more. When in Rome, I speak what the Romans speak, or at least try to... Have lived in 6 different countries in my life and immigrated to each and every one of them LEGALLY.

Try going to Mexico and telling them that you want the drivers license book printed in English so you can study for the test. After they beat you up for being a asswipe Gringo, report back and tell us how it went.

How and why we let this crap get out of control in America is a good question, but it needs to return to the old days IMHO. You legal and speak English you can stay, otherwise go home and return when you are legal and can communicate in our language.

try working in a government office where the workers can speak english but refuse to do so
think thats odd ???
thats normal in miami !!!!

if they donot want to learn and use english in public/ at work DEPORT THEM!!!!!
or the USA will become balkinized
miami is the poorest major city in the USA as a direct result of unrestrained imigration
both legal and illegal

You haven't entirely wasted your effort. I think it's funny.

Actually, I got it from Dennis Miller on the radio and it just hit my funny bone. But I'm not a Nazi, and never have been.

Supporting multiple languages is good for the economy. Can we move on now?
