Many years ago (maybe during the '80's) 60 Minutes did a story on a pan handler in NY.
He lived in a nice house in Westchester County. Got up every morning, ate breakfast that his wife prepared for him. Dressed in a suit, took his brief case to his Mercedes, and drove into NY City. There he would park his Mercedes, get old clothes & hat out of the back, & change into them. Then he would go to "his place" on a sidewalk somewhere and sit there with his cup. At that time, he told 60 Minutes he made $50K a year doing that.
It was incredible.
