Body Worlds An Anatomicical...
An Anatomical exhibition of the human body....Link http://www.bodyworlds.com/en.html
Has anyone here been to it? What did you think? Its here in San Jose till January. I went last weekend and was amazed! I thought I would be a bit creeped out by it, but after viewing the first display or two I thought differently. Everything was very tastefully done. I don't want to give anything away for those that have not seen it yet.

Saw it in Houston last year. It was pretty amazing. Definately worth seeing, nothing to be creeped out or tentative about for sure. The human body is very interesting when disected, stripped of it's skin, muscle, bones......

Extremely interesting. Not particularly creepy. I caught myself thinking that some of the women had nice bodies. Then wondering if we can all look slim and fit, if our fat were cut away. Mused about that for the rest of the exhibit.

I thought it was pretty incredible. The nervous system and circulatory system completely isolated and removed was fantastic. The two I really dug were the "star warrior" and the guy holding his own skin over his arm.

I saw something similar, BODIES...The Exhibition, and it was a bit creepy to me. It seemed like they figured out how to make money using left over med school cadavers.

My wife & I saw "Bodies" when it was in the San Diego area. It was fascinating. Some of the exhibits like the smokers' lungs and the lungs with cancer should have made an impact on some of the smokers that went there.

I also saw it when it was in Houston. I'd say it's definitely something to see.

Stunning, but I really had enough of that during med school. Carving out the details of different organ system in bodies left by their former owners. The smell was obnoxious. Used to feel like a cow, chewing my lunch over and over...
Did I mention the smell.. ![]()

saw it in Cleveland a couple of years ago. There are a couple of them now one from China. The one I saw was from Germany. All I can say is...disturbingly fascinating.

We also saw the exhibit in Cleveland a few years ago. My 14 year old son was mesmerized by everything he saw. He will learn much more in the near future when he achieves his goal of Med School.
My wife has a somewhat odd sense of humor and described the display with 2 words, FLANK STEAK. she still referrers to it that way today!

The jerkey people are cool. Tastes a little too plastic though...

We saw it here in San Diego. I was a bit nervous going in, and was concerned how my 8 and 10 yr old kids would take it, but it was...strangely...not at all creepy. Very well done displays and a good exhibit tour. Lots of interesting reading. The section of the tour that dealt with pregnancy and fetus, including birth defects, had a warning sign and could be bypassed completely. It was also very well done and not to be missed. My only gripe is the entry fee of ~ $30/per is pretty steep.

I saw it in Seattle last Christmas. No smell at all. It wasn't weird or creepy, at least not to me. The process whereby they somehow remove the tisue and leave only the nerve network is utterly amazing....we've got LOTS of friggin nerves in us.
I thought they did it very respectfully and unlike so much stuff that is billed as educational, this actually IS.

"Bodies" was in Seattle. To me, it seemed like the perfect application for the term "macabre."

My daughter went with us to see it. She was not bothered by it at all. (she just turned 9) I think we spent close to two hours going through it. Our entry fee was only $22 bucks plus we rented the audio devices too.
The pregnancy and fetus displays were tough to see for me because it made me sad to think of little ones that never had a chance. Very informative though. One of the displays was a skate boarder that looked as though he was just coming out of a half pipe upside down and gripping his board. I wish I could have brought my camera in but they are NOT allowed. The lungs with cancer and the lungs of a coal miner were pretty cool. There was a woman looking at them and she turned to her husband and said "I just quit smoking!"
