Where to find technical info on McLaren F1
Anyone know of any good books or articles with lots of good info including the technical bits about the McLaren F1? -- other than the out of print book that's for sale on Amazon for almost $300.
There is a little info on the net, and I have a good article in Octane Magazine from the Sept 07 edition, but I'd like more. A book would be good, but I haven't been able to find much online. I did find an episode of a Brit show called "The Car's the Star" that featured the F1 on youtube. Something that I learned from the show is that the "tool kit" for the F1 is not really very similar to the one from a 911. The Car's the Star -- about 18 mins total pt 1 http://youtube.com/watch?v=Q1Y7eBsO6bM pt 2 http://youtube.com/watch?v=CUiC90x_n6A pt 3 http://youtube.com/watch?v=YyNGEoNqjfc pt 4 http://youtube.com/watch?v=391V6NBnd0U

Yeah, I'm talking about Gordon Murray's baby.

If you PM me your address I'll post you a copy of 'the book'. It's a brilliant book - and I happen to have a spare copy. (Got both as Christmas presents a decade or so ago.)

Sorry Steve! The Stepney-gate scandal in F1 this season made poking at McLaren & Ferrari too hard to pass up.

Ah, I canceled "Speed" this year and so I haven't been keeping up with F1. I was thinking of the McLaren guy named Coughlan or something like that, so the Stepney name didn't ring a bell initially.

What is the name of "the book" for those of us who have never heard of it?

That's the one. A jewel of a book. A blow by blow account of the design and build of the most uncompromised car ever.
