It's really not that much of a stretch.

You must be a contortionist or a gymnast...I can't stretch that far :)

ps: You mean is wasn't about WMD?

URY914 10-12-2007 08:37 AM

It is not "global warming" it is now called "climate change".

It's all in the spin.

Are you kidding? Absolutely climate change has to do with peace. Climate change isn't related to peace at the moment, but in the future as humans deplete Earth, it's not beyond imagination that wars will wage over natural resources such as oil, water, viable land, etc., instead of what is currently in vogue, such as religion, political dogma and monetary gain.

It's truly too bad most of you would rather shoot the messenger on this issue, than consider the message he brings.

Are YOU kidding? The climate has always changed, will continue to do so, and there's not a damn thing any human can do about it. We might as well get paranoid about the magnetic poles flipping around...talk about chaos, and that'll happen again too, but at least Al won't be around to take credit :)

island911 10-12-2007 09:02 AM

n'no. . back in the day, when there was not changing of the climate, man did not fight. . . ..BWHAHAHAhahaha :D

It is simply a human frailty. It is called "denial".

island911 10-12-2007 09:07 AM

YOu got to give Al political cred... He thought one day, "how do I get those extra votes . .. those people who loath politics so that when it comes up, they just start talking about the weather? . . . that's IT!"

. . an we thought Hillary was the hyper scheming one. ...or perhaps we'll see a Gore Clinton ticket.

So why attack Gore? Jealousy? Think it's a slap in the face of Bush? Or are the status quo consumers of natural resources more enlightened because "there's not a damn thing any human can do about it" so we might as well hasten Earth's demise, and we, as consumers, already realize that?

Yep - Al's preaching to the choir. Thing is, he got $1.5 million for it, and is giving the money away.

Hillary's $80 million ahead. Gore wants pres., not same-song-second-verse VP. Look for him in 2012 or 2016 - that is if he doesn't explode from weight gain first.

Either way, by then (2012, 2016), the Pacific Ocean in your parts should be about up to your chest as you stand in your living room. :D

OMG the future is now....

I'm not attacking Gore, or Bush. I'd like to know how making a movie about "climate change" places him in front of folks that are truly deserving of the Nobel "PEACE" prize. Yeah, when I think of "peace", Al Gore immediately jumps to the top of the list :(

frogger 10-12-2007 09:28 AM

I'm curious, who would be a more deserving recipient this year?

BeyGon 10-12-2007 09:31 AM

Dottore
"Well I hate to be the spare prick at the wedding, but I think this was well deserved."

You do it well.

Rick Lee 10-12-2007 09:42 AM

If climate change had something to do with peace, we'd have heard a lot about caveman or indian wars every time an ice age ended. There have been thousands of them. Who made it get warmer then?

Begging the question, eh?

OK, you should have won.

Well, if you want a Hollywood (CA., not FL) analysis, here it is:
1) Al gets trumped in 2000.
2) Bush creates world chaos with his crusades in Iraq and inattentiveness to al Queda.
3) Bush et Iraq is seen throughout other countries as more about oil than any other cause.
4) Bush refuses the Kyota treaty.
5) Bush substantiates, and to a degree, promotes the U.S. as the second most polluting country on Earth, only behind China.
6) Al, a polar opposite to virtually everything Bush supports, is seen as the natural golden boy, a beaten-down Rocky Balboa, blah, blah, blah, plus...
7) Most importantly, Al speaks a truth that is occurring before our very eyes as opposed to a treasure hunt for democracy and WMDs.
8) The loathsome loser, robbed of an election in 2000 thus becomes the overall victor in 2007, and on a far more important lofty and world-conscious level than our current president.

Seven plot points, one strong resolution. And the Oscar (as well as the Nobel) goes to...

KFC911 10-12-2007 09:56 AM

I do agree that Bush should get a "Nobel WAR prize", but you're not going to convince me that AG deserves the Peace prize :). I'm not very political, don't care for most politicians (they are what they are), and I actually like what Al is doing on this climate matter, but the PEACE prize???

This year's Pulitzer Prize winner "The Road" gives a far more harrowing depiction. Yes, the cause to downfall is different, but the effect is something mankind should either never face, or wholeheartedly deserves.
