a 3y/o with "a malignant form of brain cancer" . .. but let's all focus on the dog as evil and ponies as angelical.

Just think: Poor, financially strapped family in need reaches out for assistance for boy with terminal brain cancer. Funds are low, stress is high.

Caring, considerate foundation says: "HERE, HERE'S A F**KING PONY!!!!!" You weren't stressed out enough, so we'll give you this miniature pony. Put it in your back yard, ok? It will be wonderful for the poor little boy. Here's some free horse food, too. We know you don't have - well - a barn - or, - somewhere for the horse to stay - or - any money - but the smile on his little face when he rides THE FRICKING MINIATURE PONY will be worth it. Right?

If they want to help that family - F*ck. Buy them 6 months of groceries. NOT A F**KING PONY.

Yes, the dog attack is unfortunate.

Have to agree. Wouldn't it have made more sense to pay for a couple of months of the family's medical expenses or something?

A sick kid's wish list:
A) Groceries
B) Paid medical expenses
C) A pony

The answer is always "C". Don't blame the foundation too much as they were probably just trying to fulfill a kid's "wish", but I do see what you guys are saying

Who knows maybe a pony brings the kid smiles and happiness. Not so terrible though as a parent I wouldn't want to be picking up after the thing.

Let's not get wrapped up in the *pitt* part of the story. It's really about irresponsible dog owners second and an unfortunate kid first.

It happened where I live. The Pony pulled a little cart around with the boy in it. Jeez sometimes you guys are so incredibly tough.

Cool. Then they'll also find out how it feels to eat a round or 3 of .40 cal

Make-A-Wish is for kids who aren't gonna make it very long, and does things to keep them happy and comfortable. The poor kid is 3.

It doesn't say anything about the family being strapped for cash, nor is it any of your business.

The dogs damn near got ahold of the kids father. Keep your stupid dogs locked up.

Hopefully the child remains unaware of the fate of her pony.
BTW, it "is" both the breed and the owner...you know what I mean.

Yeah, the kids family could have great insurance and be fine as far as financial goods are concerned.

Make-a-Wish does stuff like get a basketball player to say hi, or get a pony, or whatever. Its like BGCarrera32 said, this stuff is for kids who are living their last days.

I think its a frickin awesome organization.

Maybe they should consider giving him a somewhat larger pony... more pit bull resistant..

I get so tired of hearing about these attacks. I think we should feed the owners of these dogs to the dogs. It's not the dogs' fault. They are just dogs. It's what they do. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't be handled appropriately. There should also be serious consequences for owners in these situations.

I can't believe you folks think Make-a-Wish bought a pony for a kid whose parents could have bought her one. Or conversely for a kid whose parents could never take care of it. These people do great work, and are very thorough and careful about doling out their "help". They have a very thorough screening process in this program. They would not have just shown up with a pony one day without the parent's consent or knowledge. They would not have shown up with a pony one day if the parents could just have well gotten one themselves.

But all of that is neither here nor there. Here we have another example of an out of control dog and an irresponsible owner. And yes, in spite of the appologists position, it does matter that it was a pit bull. Some breeds have dispositions that demand more attention and control from their owners than others. Why are the ***** heads that are least inclined to exercise any so attracted to this breed? You would think they would seek out lower maintenance breeds.

Or dogs that bark and when they bark at you bees come out of their mouth.

Yes I apologize if I created a "worst case scenario" in my head to make my POV seem better. I know none of you guys ever do it.
