Vette guys are making fun of us again...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1858349
If you're bored go give them hell. I know this is a daily occurrence but I jumped into their thread for a little fun today. Keep it high-brow fellas... |

Corvettes are pretty cool. I'm surprised the two clubs meeting like that didn't degenerate into a battle over what's the best beer or a comparison of the virtues of brats vs. burgers. Mmmmm.

I think these threads can be fun, but what always amazes me is when they take a turn away from good natured ribbing towards belligerence and nastiness.
I'd think that a bunch of car nuts should be able to get along and agree to disagree on certain aspects.

I suppose, statistically speaking, one would be able to generally deduct pretty well the typical personality of a person simply from what car make forum they spend time on.
Vintage 911: Family guy well past his prime. ![]() Corvette: Youngster with no family yet but fighting the competition and hormones to make a manly enough impression for finally being able to score. Once succeded and a couple of years down the line - see Vintage 911. ![]() How is that for premier pseudo psychology rant.

I really like the Corvette. If someone gave me a Z06, I'd drive it happily all day long.

I grew up with a classic Vette in the garage. Nothing wrong with that. I'd love to drive a Z06 for a weekend, pure torque-land = happy driver.
Ah well, what are ya gonna do.

Man...I'd hate to see how one of those Corvette guys would cope if the road had a slight bend...

Pretty well, actually. Still, I won't buy a GM vehicle. The black box thing...

Well, if you've been a life-long Vette fan, you've got to feel good that, after 40 years, they've finally gotten it right. Their car is finally hitting its prime, long after they've passed theirs.
And naturally you'd envy the car that had it right from the beginning. JP

Ahhh, the Vette...
I would gladly add a nice split window coupe, or even a "Stingray" era Vette to the collection. Anything newer than a '69 though is a POS IMO. Every time I have ever gone for a ride in one, it's like forgetting to adjust the suspension in my BWM from "track" to "around town". Always feels like I am going to shake some teeth loose! Sure, they move... but the lines just don't appeal to me.

Wonder what would have happened if someone parked their Black Chevy Wagon in the parking lot. I'll bet that would have really chapped their hides.

Judging by the way I have seen many a vette take the bends at a variety of racetracks... pretty damn well (just not quite as fast as me!).

"you should of somehow started a fight and said there car's suck!!"
This was the second post on the thread. Given the grammar, I decided not to venture any further...and I like old Corvettes!

I do really like older 'Vettes. One of the chief advantages behind them, if they are still in any kind of usable condition at all, is that they are often far better cars than they were when new. Any kind of restoration, or even any level of maintanence that has allowed one to get this far, has been done by hand by some one far more caring and careful than the original monkies that assembled it at GM. Once you find one that is old enough to pique my interest, all of its inherent issues with quality of assembly have been addressed.
On the other hand, if you buy a new one or one new enough to still be on its first "cycle", you are still getting just another POS Chevy. Built by UAW hacks that could care less from the cheapest materials the beancounters can find in China. It will very soon start to fade, rattle, and self-destruct. There is just no getting around that. I do really like the Z06, and it is fast as hell, but the "quality" of GM products leaves me cold. They will never be a "contender" until they can address that, no matter how fast their cars are.
