NFA but classified as AOW (All Other Weapons...short barreled shotguns, shot-pistols, etc.). $5 transfer tax and one (short) form (BATF Form 4), signed by your leading County Law Enforcement Officer.

NFA? What's that? I'm sure it doesn't exist in oppressive IL.

National Firearms Act of 1934. Federal law.

Chris
Allowable rifle barrell length is 16", perhaps to grandfather in those few old Winchester (and others)carbines that were that length. I heard that today from the agent that conducted my compliance check. Shotguns are still 18".

You're talking non-NFA rules. NFA weapons ARE legal with the applicable tax-stamp ($5 for AOW's & $200 for Class III). And, here in FLA, they can be CCW. If it's legal to own, it's legal to carry! My Serbu has a 6.5" barrel and is 16.5" overall.

Danny
As Legion is from IL I didn't feel he was ready to confront NFA type firearms so I felt he was referring to the more common side of the picture. That was my point of refrence.
Nice pic btw, a buddy showed up at the shop with a cut BREN the other day, what a hunk.

Silencers are also AOW under the NFA, $5 transfer tax. Lots of companies make them.

Unfortunately, it's tough to convince the Sheriff you need a silencer. They usually don't sign for those. Most of the silencers I've seen are in dealers hands.

Is it possible to own an MP-5 legally? I thought class III only allowed guns made or imported by 1986.

red-beard 11-08-2007 07:25 PM

Yes, if you are a FFL with a Class III license.

Maybe all of this will change soon, but I'm not counting on it.

you should nickname that thang "THE VAPORIZER"!

same rule applies here in az re: CCW. if you have CCW and you can hide it...........its allowed. knives class III,s etc.

scottsdale gun club has some very high end class III's always for sale also. RDTS.com here in cave creek is the HK guru for anythang you want HK.

note the bottom left of flemings pic. thats a "K" version (kurz) for short, HK .308 in full auto. 30 rd clips crammed into a nice lil package of overwhelming firepower. you probably would have to deal with "overpenetration" issues in certain areas.

my pistol guru friend nelson ford bought a real honest to goodness full auto M-14. saw video of him leaning into that monster and going for a ride. hell of alot of fun. but once again alot of bucks to shoot.

but if the SH!! ever goes down...............im going to his house and he will protect me from the BOOGERMAN! while i snipe away with my puny semi-auto .308's. he also has a .50 browning full auto on a jeep, a water cooled .30 caliber class III. hes a gun shop owner therfore HE CAN!

my honest opinion............get a class III in either 9mm or .308, gonna be the cheapest bang fer buck.

belt fed if ya really want lasting grins! thats whats cool about HK 21. belt feed it for ungodly firepower and then go back to mag fed and go slow with ammo.

remember belt feds need linking system or you will be there forever loading rounds and in a matter of seconds all your efforts will be downrange FAST!

Good luck getting any sheriff to sign for anything in this state...

There is a loophole. You can form a corporation and have the weapon in its' name. No Sheriff signature required. You may not be able to carry it, but you could own it.

legion 11-09-2007 05:37 AM

Can't carry anything in this state anyways.
