It did a fly-over of Wichita about a month ago. It was too large and heavy to land. It looked big at 500 ft, but I have a feeling it would be much bigger standing next to it.

Apparently, SQ are quite pleased with perfomance of first operatin one on SIN-SYD. No big glitches, keeping time schedule and is fully booked for every flight. First customers say it's very quiet inside.
Quite ugly from outside but I don't think either carriers or customers care.

I'm pretty sure than Airbus got plans to stretch that body...A -400 will see life...

Considering how heavy it is, I would guess they need that much wing surface area for lift.
Nice pic comparing it to the 747. My thought was that it looked bigger than a 747, but not that much bigger. I guess I was more or less right.

Just looked it up, A380 max takeoff weight is 1.235 million lbs. 747 is 735,000 lbs. That's a BIG difference.
