Or you could say "Found - $20". Then when someone calls to claim it test them by asking "Was it 2 tens that you lost or was it a ten, a five and 5 ones?"

Leave the note for the girls, Dave. Just because they're spoken for doesn't mean they'll always be that way. And when she breaks up with him, she'll remember that nice guy with the bird who found my $20 and actually gave it back to me. Then she jumps all over you.

The person probably didn't even notice it was missing. But post a note that is vague like suggested and see what happens. Give it a week or more.

stay classy, San Diego!

When I was in grad school I noticed a small brown paper bag on the ground while walking to Ralphs. Inside was about $4K in cash. I took it home and tried to figure out what the deal was. I found a receipt from a local burger place (Wolfe Burger on Lake Ave). It seemed that this was the deposit from the day's receipts. I slept on it, then the next morning went in to give them the money back. The manager was very relieved and it turned out that an employee had dropped it while walking to the bank and couldn't find it. Not sure if the employee got fired or whatnot. But I did get free food for the next year.

Life can be even Steven sometimes though, if you keep it, you will somehow lose something worth $20, or maybe its your turn, did you lose $20 before?

OK, sign posted in the laundry room, next to the black sexy underwear. We'll see what kind of calls I get - if any. This could be interesting.

Dave

Good. Really. And not surprising.

There is an old saw about the most important choices we make are those when no one else is looking. Happens to be true.

Before we were married, my Wife was at school at Cal Poly SLO. I went up to see her one weekend and stopped at 7-11 to pick up some beer. There was a wallet on the ground with money and numerous credit cards. I picked up my Wife and drove to the address on the drivers license. The wallet belonged to Virginia Madonna, and I pulled up to her huge house and knocked on the door and gave her the wallet.

She thanked me profusely, and said she wasn't worried about the money, but couldn't remember which credit cards were in the wallet and didn't want to deal with canceling them. She gave me $100 and her business card good for a weekend for 2 at The Madonna Inn complete w/ lobster dinner and brunch. I think I made out pretty well.

WTF?!? I do the right thing and post a note and what happens? I get rear ended on the freeway, in my 911! I think I am going to take the note down now and buy that case of beer!

Last week there was a story I read (maybe here)...Dr. loses $8k at a casino. Casino worker finds the $8k and turns it in. Doc is re-united with his $$$ and gives the casino worker a reward. Reward amount? $8k. Now that's a class act.

I opened one of our two driers and found a folded up $20.00 bill. First thought was to post a note next to the womens underwear that is hanging in the launry room, but then I realized that anyone could lay claim to it. "Yeah, it's my 20, it's green and has the number 20 written on it."

One idea, was to put a note in the laundry room saying something like:

"Object found in drier #1, on 11/20/07 at about 9:30 pm. Anybody missing anything?"

What would you do?

Remember the glass slipper? Yep..if it don't fit...

Finding a wad of cash on the street (or in the laundry) ain't stealing it, no matter how you spin it. If that were true, most of us would be in jail for picking up dimes, quarters, etc. off the sidewalk...

Dave, you're a good man. You've made the effort to get the money back to it's rightful owner. It's time to buy that beer.

As for the rear ended hit...it may turn out that your wife-to-be is working at the body shop and that's how you'll meet. Good things can come from bad ones (think mustard seed).

Update

I'm not giving up yet. Got my first call today. Wasn't for the cash. This one was wondering if I found her key and a hat. She's a hypnotherapist and supposedly can read minds. How can she lose a key and hat? That and she forgets to put her laundry in the dryer!

More updates as they come in, cause I know you all want to know! Looks like a twelver and some grub on the 30th.

Dave

P.S. the black Victoria's Secret undies are gone.
