My copilot right now is from Montreal and was having some dental issues last week. We are in Berlin Germany now so took him by an old friend who saw him and then filled his cavity in 20 minutes, no hassle.
Paid the bill in cash and my copilot remarked as we left that it cost him less than 25% of the usual costs in Canada and he was seen by the dentist within 24 hours of calling and waited less than an hour in the office, something he had never had happen in Canada. I really like the idea of everyone having health care coverage (I pay for it out of my pocket to the tune of $325 a month) but unless you are dying your chances of seeing a doctor in a reasonable time period are not good. Both countries (Canada and the USA) can improve greatly on its health care but Canada does have a better system for the most part than we do.

There are a lot of good things to be said for Canada's health care system. As well there are some less than glowing issues with the countries health care system.

Maybe Oprah will come across this thread and give it some publicity. I had a friend make a comment like that in a newspaper article and he almost did get on Oprah! They contacted him and interviewed him, etc.

I should be so lucky...... I think Oprah might be a bit busy with her "Leadership Academy" in Africa.
