Well, I understand that there are reasons for living in places where it can get down to -11 C.

*Family.
*Family business [though that amounts to about 50% of a reason, in my opinion].
*VERY good paying job. 50%; Most high-paying jobs can also be found in places warm-
*You weigh 300 pounds and 35 degrees F feels like 75F to someone in shape.
*You've never traveled.
*You've never traveled and you have no idea what the outside world is like.
*You just like snow and ice and ice storms.
*"Chilblains" and frozen extremities amuse you.

I washed my lover's car this morning, her new '08 Acura TSX. I detailed everything, spent about 2 hours on the car [including touching up the curbed 17-inch wheel tonight~]. I did this at 8 AM. It was 73 degrees F here in Fort Lauderdale.

-I wore only a bathing suit.

I washed/waxed/detailed our '99 Ford Ranger yesterday. Took about 4 hours, starting around noon. The predicted high that day was 40 F...Damn near froze my ass off in jeans & sweatshirt because I've never learned how to stay dry when washing a car.

Wax doesn't dry or buff easily at 40 degrees F.

Tip: Wool socks inside the tennies...they help keep your wet feet warm.

I once got into a heated debate with a long haired hippy who claimed burning wood was bad because it was not a renewable resource. I was completely dumbfounded. Last time I checked trees grew in the forest. His claim was if everybody burned wood then we wouldn't have any trees left. What ever dude.

Rome used to have trees back a thousand years or so ago, lots of them. They denuded the forests for wood to burn and to build ships. Have you been to Rome? No trees.

Heck of a cool city though with some amazing architecture, art and history.

Best,

This Wednesday. I'll be at the big track at Willow Springs. Forecast is for mid 50's, but clear skies. Thursday I'll be skiing Mammoth for the day, home for dinner

It was pretty cold here yesterday too - in the 50s and 60s. Too icy for my blood.
