Need recommendation: guitar for beginner
My g/f wants a guitar for xmas - I'm pretty sure she wants electric. I know nothing about guitars and on a good day I could pick one out of a police lineup.
What would be a good setup for a beginner?

What's your budget? Electric means you need an amp too. Both can start at $150 and there's no upper limit. Best bang for the buck is a Mexican Strat for around $300-$350.

Great amp for running through your home stereo or other external speakers is to pick up an old Tom Scholz Rockman on eBay. Amazing sound, super small and portable and compatible with a lot of other things.

How big are her hands? (I can't think of a non-weird way to ask).
If she has small hands, some guitars have smaller fingerboards that might be better suited to her. |
