Anti Christmas Stores- fight back, save Chistmas
Many stores, such as, Nordstroms, Costco have completely omitted Christmas from all of their advertising and "Holiday" catalogs. Time to fight back.
Make a small sticker with one of the following on it A. A Christmas tree with a circle around it and a big red X over the tree. B. A Cross with a circle around it and a big red X over the cross. The next time you visit one of these stores, casually paste the sticker on their front door or window. The more the better. The meaning of the symbol is "This store is anti Christmas" That meaning should be kept quiet as long as possible, allowing as many stickers to accumulate on the offending stores as possible. What they have done is to offend the majority to accommodate the minority. Let them know where they make their money. Christmas Eve the meaning of the symbols should be widely disseminated. I suspect the stores management will get the message and it will be different next year. Pass it on If you don't agree, please move to Cuba. Merry Christmas to all. PS You have to assume that the management is totally stupid to not realize what is happening before the Dec 24th announcement. You would be correct. They have already demonstrated their stupidity by omitting Christmas and may not even "get it" when told exactly what the symbol means. They are morons. Happy Holidays!
I shopped at Nordstrom's today. It actually was okay - not as busy as I feared it might be.

If your biggest problem is that large corporations don't celebrate the holiday season with the same zeal that you do, I think you've got it pretty good.
Maybe I'm different in that I don't base my purchases on a tax entity's religious beliefs whatsoever. AM PS - Cuba's kind of looking good when it's -20c outside!

Had a Salvation Army guy tell me Happy Holidays on my way into a store the other day. I ignored him.
On the way out, he said Merry Christmas. I turned, and said that I was sorry because I had no cash. But, I did thank him for saying "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays" Funny thng about it? I'm Wiccan. PC bullcrap pisses me off. Merry Christmas!

last time I checked, believing in Christianity was not required to live in this country. That sounds more Cuba-esque. Cuba-rific? Cubas-tastic!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I know where I'll be shopping now. I might even send some emails to the moron management to thank them for toning it down.
Festivus for the rest of us! Happy Festivus!

War on Christmas?!
Really?!?! Stop watching Bill-O and Fox News and start thinking for yourself. I guess the "war on Christmas" is a nice distraction from the real issues.

While I personally think everybody knows it's Christmas, and Christmas is not a bad word, I'm more bothered that somebody would encourage defacing somebody else's property.
Putting a silly sticker on somebody's store will just make the manager send sombody over with Windex and a rag to clean it off. All the effort to make a sticker, and go around town posting them, and they will just end up in the garbage, with no effect whatsoever. |

I work in a large mall and 2 years ago many stores didn't include any christmas in their holiday decor and payed the price. Sales were down in those stores and since then every major store I see has gone back to including christmas in their marketing. I guess the best way to send a message to a retailer is to take your money elsewhere and let them know why.

Anyone who is a REAL Christian should do this everywhere, even their churches......the so-called "Christmas" tree is actually a Pagan tree. |

![]() This isnt even about it being a religious thing. It's the whole "we wont say the word Christmas, but we are more than happy to capitalize off of it". I am probably the most unreligious person on this board, but this crap is totally out of control. It bugs the crap out of me. It is not a "holiday tree", it is not a "family tree". It is a "CHRISTMAS TREE"!! All these stores big sales revolve around CHRISTMAS! Nothing else. Not Kwanzaa, not Ramadan, not Hanukkah. ( not that I would have a problem if business's decided to have sales revolving around those holidays) It has been this way for a loooooong time. Now it is a bad thing?? Dont say Christmas. Santa cant say HO, HO. Where does it stop??? I have written many letters to these big companies that have changed thier marketing practices to the new "PC" ways, informing them that I will no longer do business with them. Maybe if more people did this this would change.

Some would say that company is a great example of how God will bless those that honor Him. Of course yummy chicken, fantastic service and fair prices doesn't hurt!

Happy Pagan Holidays to y'all!
![]() In ancient Babylon, the feast of the Son of Isis (Goddess of Nature) was celebrated on December 25. Raucous partying, gluttonous eating and drinking, and gift-giving were traditions of this feast. The pagans of northern Europe celebrated the their own winter solstice, known as Yule. Yule was symbolic of the pagan Sun God, Mithras, being born, and was observed on the shortest day of the year. As the Sun God grew and matured, the days became longer and warmer. It was customary to light a candle to encourage Mithras, and the sun, to reappear next year. Huge Yule logs were burned in honor of the sun. The word Yule itself means “wheel,” the wheel being a pagan symbol for the sun. Mistletoe was considered a sacred plant, and the custom of kissing under the mistletoe began as a fertility ritual. Hollyberries were thought to be a food of the gods. The tree is the one symbol that unites almost all the northern European winter solstices. Live evergreen trees were often brought into homes during the harsh winters as a reminder to inhabitants that soon their crops would grow again. Evergreen boughs were sometimes carried as totems of good luck and were often present at weddings, representing fertility. The Druids used the tree as a religious symbol, holding their sacred ceremonies while surrounding and worshipping huge trees. |

Hey man, you're either for Christmas, or you're against it! Which are you??? Huh? That being said, December 25 is, as a factual matter, Christmas, and the vast majority of the gift items being bought in the US at places like Target, etc. between now and December 25 are . . . Christmas gifts. So it is kinda silly that stores can't/won't have, in addition to "Happy Holiday" signs, "Merry Christmas" signs. But where does the blame with that lie? I don't really think with the stores. They just want to sell stuff. In that regard, they are just a reflection of society. They do the "Happy Holiday" nonsense because it's a sad fact that there ARE a lot of people who are very vocal and claim to be "offended" by Merry Christmas. I'm sure retailers would much rather not have to deal with this at all, but they are forced to, and take the action they feel is most economically beneficial to themselves. And, likewise, people are free to protest or complain about stores that won't display "Merry Christmas." I'm sure people feel strongly about it, and they SHOULD make themselves heard. It is on the surface a minor issue, but I think it does underlie an important and interesting social/cultural battle that is going on. It will be interesting to see where we are on it in 5 years, and 10 years. Last edited by the; 12-03-2007 at 07:10 AM.. |

When I don't have to fight for off time for my own religious holidays I'll be happier with Christians getting theirs.
