No more ricer-bashing for me...

...now I is one:

Anyone else out there have an NSX as a DD?

I had a couple buddies that drove these; they swore by them! Great sportscar.
I couldn't fit in the thing though. My buddy would push down on my head through the Troofs, too funny.
They were tip trannies though, not a big fan.

Looks like fun, congrats!!

Fantastic cars, but I wish they had put more development into it over the years. It was a ground breaking car style wise, but to leave it unchanged for 15 years was a mistake.

Regardless, beautiful car. Certainly a car that will be noted in sports car history as a milestone.

Hey Dan,
I figured you'd buy a 6 speed!!!
I'm 6'-4" and 240Lbs

Can't fit in most vehicles; the 993 is a tad tight even.

You'll love driving that car; my two buddies could drive whatever they wanted too; and I'm sure they've owned many types such as Ferrari, etc. The one guy that tried to squeeze me into my car was the guy that put me onto Porsches originally. Taught me alot about having things that made me happy, no one else and how to go about finding it. Great Guy.

This is an old pic of my buddy...... Greg. One of the biggest dreamers and goal setters I've ever known.
we use to work together, he loved his NSX; then one of my other buddies bought one too.
They are truly great cars from what I've been told.

I had the intense pleasure of getting a few laps around Mosport in the passenger seat in an NSX 2 years ago. My impression was it was a great combination of comfort and agility. It was very nimble and handled the corners extremely well, but didn't feel rough or harsh at all. I can see how it would be a problem for someone quite tall (I'm 5'7 so it's not an issue). It did feel a slight bit underpowered for its weight, but was still a very memorable ride, and I've driven and been for rides at Mosport in many different cars. (probably the least memorable was a GT3!)

You're not a ricer - the NXS is in a different league than a Civic, Teggy, or any of those sub-compacts that kids call "sports cars" these days..

The NSX is an awesome car - I like the earlier style - with the pop-up headlights - like you have.

So, when are you gonna track that puppy?

That was my thought. Isn't it pretty underpowered too?

True story, the guy I hought my 911 from bought an NSX (red of course) a couple years after he sold me my car. I went over to his house to check it out.

He gave me a ride in it and it performed well. Civilized, polished, nice.

Then I offered him a ride in my car. Seems L neglected to mention the turbo to him. He said he knows all about that car, i talked him into it.
As I was taking a wide sweeper in third on full boost, he was grasping for something to hold onto and yelling something.
He went on and on how that cvar was so much faster etc.
Two weeks later he sold the NSX for a grand less than he paid after putting less than 500 miles on it. He's a tad on the materialistic side, the type that thinks you buy a sports car to impress other people. Evidently his NSX wasn't impressive enough any more. He told me last week that he's planning to get a viper ..............

I drove a friend's early NSX for quite a while as I helped prep and sell the thing. He had installed an upgraded exhaust, chip and K&N setup. To be honest the car was nice but lacked the personality I hoped it would have. To me it was an Acura that handled well but was boring.

Ayrton Senna had input on the design, FWIW.

Fart can and neon are on back-order...(blue neon readily available, but I really had my heart set on purple).

To answer/dispel some comments:

Yes, the car is underpowered (270hp ~ 290hp depending on year) for its weight (3153 lbs. Japan-only version weighs in @ 2910 lbs.) A lot of folks over at the NSX forum have bolted on superchargers. There's a few "claiming" 700+ hp

Maintenance costs can sneak up on you...60k service requires changing the timing belt...must unbolt one side of the motor and tilt for access... I don't even want to know what a clutch is gonna cost.

From what I understand, the NSX went through a few changes over the years, cosmetically & mechanically (3.0 ~ 3.2, etc.). Production is on hiatus until '08 or '09 when they'll (allegedly) be re-introducing the next generation.

'96 ~ '97 B/W Viper GTS is the next car to be added to the stable.

Camaro?!? squared.

LOVE the NSX. When I was in college I worked for an Acura dealer shortly. I got to drive one on a dealer trade and it is one of the best cars I have ever driven.
