Cho's Legacy

This was inevitable. Through numerous lawsuits, lawyers have effectively established the precedent that colleges are liable for the actions of students. Colleges, fearing another Virginia Tech-style shooting and the resulting legal action, have become very proactive in removing students with mental illness from their campuses.

From large public institutions to small, private colleges, a growing number of schools are taking punitive action against students who display mental illness, ranging from bipolar disorder to eating disorders, experts say.

Exactly. It's not about good (common) law (precedents), it's about making money off of a precedent until it creates a situation where it's more lucrative to set a new precedent and make money off of that.
