I guess I can see a new coach coming into a below .500 team setting his goal to win the PAC10 conference.

But I thought USC aspired to win NATIONAL championships, and play in the NATIONAL championship bowl game.

So I would think that playing in the Rose Bowl would be a disappointment for USC (this year, The Greatest College Football Team of All Time). It mean, by definition, they are *not* playing for a National Championship.

But I'll take your word for it. USC must have lost those games this year on purpose. Because had they not, they would have been deprived of the chance to play in the ROSE BOWL, and would have had to settle for playing for a National Championship on January 7.

I'm sure you would have hated that, and probably would not have even watched. But if USC had won out and had to play in the National Championship game, I'm you sure would have been transfixed to your TV set to watch that Arizona State v. Illinois ROSE BOWL today.

Glad you can see something

If you say so, I didn't say anything about it.

Sure I would, I love watching the ROSE BOWL. Didn't you like it?

We must have watched a different game here. The one I saw was a close game decided by a touchdown.
Yeah, maybe you were watching in SEC country at an SEC bar or something.

Michigan rolled 500+ yds up and down the field all game. Florida was forced to try a fake punt on their own 20 and go for it later in the game from their own 20 on 4th down, because they knew they could not stop Michigan, and they had to try to keep the ball at all costs.

Michigan was stronger, in better condition, and faster, yes much faster than
Florida overall.

Percy Harvin is GREAT, like a Ferrari...and TBow is good and knows how to use Harvin...but other than those two guys, can you name 1 or 2 other Gators who showed speed, strength and skill?

Oh Yeah, Michigan rolled 500+ yds and 41 points, despite 4 turnovers, 3 were gimmes in the RedZone which really were unforced (long pass bomb on trick play, 2 silly Mike Hart Fumbles inside the 5) ....and the 4th turnover was an interception on a buble screen inside their own 35...which was a gimme field position for Florida.

Florida had no turnovers, and Harvin and TBow had great games...but they didnt have enough, and their teammates could not step up to stop Michigan's powerful offense, which was finally healthy after a tough year. Mario Manningham and Adrian Arrington will be top NFL receivers, Henne a good pro and Mike Hart has a shot too, he looked very quick against Florida's vaunted "speed"....

so yeah, we were watching different games. So was the rest of America, including Florida fans who admitted that their team would have been blown out if not for Michigan keeping them in the game with the 4 gimmee turnovers.

Like any other bowl game, I'll watch if it has a compelling matchup.

This year could have, had the much better Georgia team been picked, instead of the multiple touchdown underdog, sure to lose, Illinois.

I watched it at home on my SEC satellite dish. Michigan scored with 4 min to go & won by six points. If you noticed, I congratulated Len on his team's win. Was it some kind of beat down, only if you haven't won a bowl game in 4 years. Tebow had far from a great game (17 for 33)& was playing with a broken bone in his throwing hand. If you want to see what a beat down looks like, put it on FOX right now. Colt Brennan is scared to death.

Once again, it's your story, tell us all about it. I don't know what you are talking about. You look good with the sheep though. That is a good "position" for you. Nice self portrait. How do you do it?

"You wouldn't have to wonder. My friends at TVA used to joke that blacks were the most insulated from trouble. After that it was a toss up between women & Viet Nam vets. For some reason at TVA, being a VN vet was worth a lot. We always said that if you were a black, female, Viet Nam vet, you could take a dump on the president's desk & he'd wipe for you."

My opinion may be softening towards Herbstreit. Instead of me praying for him to choke to death on a horse ****. tonight I'll ask God to let him choke to deat on Les Miles' ****. Amen

If your dad didn't get you that job with the TVA would you have gone to Canada?

Hawaii does not have the horses or the mules, to hang with a top flight SEC team like Georgia. Watched a few minutes, but turned on the 1998 remake of Psycho. starring Vince Vaughn which is on the Chiller Channel right now. Its pretty bad slaughter too.

Dude, your team won a bowl game for the first time since 2003, by 6 points, with 4 min to go. No more, no less. And 2 of those big play catches couldn't be repeated in 100 tries.

Aopparently you slept through the middle of the season, either that or you don't understand the game. here's a recap:
USC lost a game when it's starting quarterback had a broken bone in his hand and threw several interceptions. He should not have stayed in that game and pete Carroll admitted that and took full responsibility for the loss. Remember? In that game they were also without their starting running back and three of their starting offensive line.
The second game they lost, they were still without two of their offensive line, without their starting running back, and without their starting quarterback.
Nowe they have all their people back and are healthy, and are arguably the best college football team out there right now.
You can make up all the crap you want but that still doesn't change the truth. you both have huge chips on your shoulders against USC and so Cal, penis envy or whatever. You are over-compensating for something and it affects what you say and do. Not rational. Not normal. Get a grip.

One more thing for the so called experts, it is tradition for the PAC-10 champion to play the BIG-10 champion in the rose bowl. That's been the case for what, just over 100 years? I'm surprized you experts haven't heard about that little detail before now. OSU was already headed to a bowl game where neither team selected deserve to be, so the rose bowl took the BIG-10 team with the second best record, which again is a tradition almost as old as your cliches. Remember that Illinois beat the supposed #1 team in the nation? Of course you don't, you've blocked that out on purpose as you have so many other uncomfortable facts. Things like the fact that LSU lost to Ken-tucky and R-kansas. Not exactly powerhouses in case you haven't noticed. they also BARELY squeaked by Florida, many considered them freaking lucky to get out of that game with a loss. Come to think of it, they almost got their asses handed to them by Tennessee too. Naw, you don't want to hear that, it ruins your little fantasy world.

It's easier for you to hurl insults than to face facts. If someone tells you something you don't want to hear, you stick your fingers in your ears and hum loudly. If that doesn't work, you resort to childish insults and personal attacks. very nice. That really adds to your credibility and image as a reasonable, rational adult.
USC going to the rose bowl was a disapointment for all involved. They were capable of so much more.

Not for Beygon.

As far as credibility, you were the guy who insisted the USC had won two BCS National Championships, so you may want to stay out of college football discussions.

Finally, complaining about injuries is crybaby league (every team deals with it), but also very "USC." They are always full of crying and excuses. Like all the players who said, immediately after losing Texas, "we're better than them."

I don't care if their QB played with a severed arm and missing 10 starters, there is NO EXCUSE FOR LOSING TO A FORTY TWO POINT UNDERDOG/floormat like Stanford. Using "injuries" as an excuse for that trainwreck is pitiful.

Note: this only applies to USC. When other teams lose with second string guys playing, due to injuries, they suck. USC is different. Also disregard the fact that USC lost at home to an unranked, 41 point underdog. None of that matters. It's USC.

Losing to 5-4 Oregon doesn't count either. This is USC, remember, the greatest football team ever to take the field.

How does penis figure into this? Not rational. Not normal. Get a grip.

The wisdom of Slammin Sammy. All that tradition you refer to got altered by the BCS. The reason USC played ILL is because they were looking for a patsy, just like their out of conference schedule shows.

So you want to compare LSU's schedule to that pansy ass schedule USC plays? Sure you want to do that? 6 of LSU's first 9 opponents were ranked #17 or higher, 3 were #12 or higher, 2 were top 10. By the time the season is over, LSU will have played 8 ranked opponents, including a #1, and 2 number 9's. LSU has beaten the #3, #12, #16 and #23 teams in the country. LSU's 2 losses were in both in triple overtime, to teams that finished 8-5 and went to bowls. USC did face ASU and Oregon (chuckle chuckle) and Nebraska & Illinois. When you go 7 straight games without facing anybody with a winning record (combined record 27-58), only face 4 winners all season and only one team to make the final top 25, you look like pu$$ies. I call it the cupcake league for a reason, no competition. Hate it all you want, facts is facts.

To quote the great philosopher, Kid Rock, you get what you put in, and people get what they deserve. So come next Monday, the greatest team to ever cleat up, can kick back, open a cold one & watch the REAL National Championship contenders line up & play for the REAL National Championship. Reality, it's a b!tch, aint it?

BRPORSCHE 01-02-2008 10:18 AM

ok guys play nice.

Here are the facts
2007 Bowl Season
Pac-10: 4-2
SEC: 6-2

I am an LSU fan, thru and thru, but the bashing of USC is just not called for. I completely understand that we shared the Nat. Champ with them. I didn't like it then, and I still don't like it. But it did happen. USC played and overrated Illinois, and Georgia played and overrated Hawaii. Tradition is tradition, so Pac-10 had to play the Big-10. Sadly, for entertainment value it had to be Illinois. USC had the potential to be a very successful team this year. Due to some very crucial injuries it just didn't happen. I know that bot LSU and USC have 2 losses this season. Both teams were playing through injuries against teams that they should not of lost to.

But thats what makes College Football so interesting to me. The whole season is a massive Roller Coaster. The only way we are going to stop complaining about USC/LSU is next year they both go undefeated for the Nat. Champ game. Only then will I be happy, and thankfully the complaining will hopefully end.

Both teams are highly respectable. Their coaches respected by many within, and throughout College Football as among the finest. They will always recruit top athletes to have outstanding seasons. I expect both teams to be competitive next year.

P.S - the Pac-10 is done with Bowling this season. The SEC only has one more.

Not credible. Hates the PAC 10, California, women, blacks and Viet Vets.
Can't say anything pleasant even when talking about "his" team. The one three states away from where he lives. The best he can offer is pictures of otherwise ok women in Bourbon Street outfits with Dolly Partton hair and makeup. Oh, and him with his favorite sheep.

Happy New Year.

I have a problem with folks who can look at a team and discern that they are "the best in the country" by observation. To be the best you have to beat the best. USC plays nobody's & runs from the best.

BeyGon 01-02-2008 11:03 AM

Mule,
USC plays nobody's & runs from the best.

so, what part of PAC 10 BIG 10 don't you understand?
